BROOKLYN, NYC: EXTENDED - DAN RUTH IN A LIFE BEHIND BARS - JUNE 13th & 27th
A Life Behind Bars, Dan Ruth's dark comic work of monologues and stories, fermented in over two decades of booze, bars and gentrification, has been extended at THE GUTTER BAR (200 North 14th Street, Brooklyn, NY - 718-387-3585). Added dates are Mondays, June 13th & 27th, at 8:00 pm. Written & performed by Dan Ruth the show is directed by Tanya Moberly. Based on his 20-plus years as a New York City actor-turned-bartender in Hell's Kitchen, Brooklyn and beyond, Ruth's 'A Life Behind Bar's sheds comedic light on the darker side of the world of the bar, club and restaurant industry. Here, a rapidly changing New York City gives way to Yelp, rigged health inspections and a place where selfie-sticks, man-buns and beard bars threaten to bulldoze any remnant of New York's fabulous griminess, authenticity and humanity. After 20 years in the bar industry, Ruth has returned to the stage, alive and better than ever with a dark, voyeuristic comedy spiral, full of truths and themes of loneliness, alcoholism, vampirism and self-enslavement. 'A Life Behind Bar's is an unapologetic look at what can happen when you reach for the stars but grab for the bottle instead. The Gutter Bar is Williamsburg Brooklyn's most authentic rock & roll venue/ bowling alley /bar/ cabaret! There is a $25 cover.

CHICAGO: MONDAY NIGHT LIVE AT PETTERINO'S WITH DENISE & BECKIE
Monday Night Live, an impromptu showcase in a modern supper club setting, is hosted by Denise McGowan Tracy and Beckie Menzie on Mondays from 7:30 to 9:30 pm at PETTERINO'S (150 North Dearborn, Chicago, IL - 312-422-0150). Since the first evening in September of 2007, more than 700 singers have graced the Petterino's stage. Many of these have been talented amateurs, and just as many have been special guests from local and national theatrical productions. Past seasons have brought perfomers from the Lyric Operia, Porchlight Music Theatre, and many more from known productions such as Jersey Boys, Wicked, Sweeney Todd, Grease, and Dirty Dancing. Now in their 9th season, Denise and Beckie are back every Monday (mostly). They will probably sing a few songs and maybe tell a few stories. The format is always impromptu, and you never know quite what to expect. As always, audience members can dine on the extensive Petterino's menu, and avail themselves of the Monday Night Live special menu. There is no cover charge for the entertainment, just a $19.95 food and beverage minimum. $7.00 discounted valet parking is available after 7:00 pm. Reservations are strongly encouraged. An Evening of Classic Broadway, the popular ongoing line-up show now in its second year, will be back at ROCKWELL: TABLE & STAGE (1714 Vermont Avenue, Los Angeles, CA - 323-669-1550) on Monday, June 13th at 8:00 pm. Scheduled to join Host/ Music Director Brad Ellis and producer/ singer Dianne Fraser in the line-up are: Eydie Alyson, Jennifer Bennett, Will Collyer, Jean Louisa Kelly, Kelly Lester, Scotch Ellis Loring, Kevin McMahon, Jeffrey Scott Parsons and Jennifer Shelton. There is a $15-$25 cover plus a 2-item food/drink minimum.
