HOTLINE MEMBER CABARET EVENT TODAY IN NYC: TODD MURRAY & SEAN HARKNESS - VALENTINE DUO SPECIAL

HOTLINE MEMBER CABARET EVENT TODAY IN
NYC:
TODD MURRAY & SEAN HARKNESS - VALENTINE DUO SPECIAL

Todd Murray & Sean Harkness present a 'Valentine Duo Special' at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Sunday, February 14th at  4:00 pm. During an era when there is a shortage of significant male jazz and cabaret singers, Todd Murray has emerged as a notable interpreter of standards, newer material, and his own originals. Blessed with a deep baritone voice, Todd is an intimate performer who excels on romantic ballads, swings at every tempo, and does justice to the lyrics that he sings. His 2010 recording, Stardust & Swing, is filled with his subtle creativity and sincere emotions. The repertoire ranges from such vintage tunes as "Dream A Little Dream Of Me," and "Wrap Your Troubles In Dreams" to his own "Patricia" and "The Girl From Waco." His debut solo CD, also titled When I Sing Low, features Murray's baritone accompanied by an orchestra that is essentially a big band with strings. McCarthy and Tom Ranier (who contributed three charts) wrote the arrangements and most of the songs are timeless standards. Sean Harkness is a musical Artist and guitarist living in the New York City suburb of Jersey City Heights. He composes music for solo guitar and for small ensembles, and supports many singers, musicians, and theatrical productions. As a solo artist with six CDs, Harkness's music is on Windham Hill Records [Sony/RCA/BMG] and a list of independents. He has also scored music for television, including World's Strongest Man, ESPN, NASCAR and ABC Sports. Sean Harkness left Burlington, VT for New York City in 1994 to immerse himself in their music scene. Known especially for duets and ensemble work with singers from Broadway, television, and screen, Harkness is now a first-call guitarist who compliments an exhaustive client list of artists and productions worldwide. Sean performs extensively both as a solo artist and sideman worldwide, and in New York City's finest jazz, rock, folk, cabaret, blues, R&B, and singer/songwriter venues. Sean's first guitar arrived on his eleventh birthday. Within six months, he had a weekly theater engagement in Bridgeport, CT. After high school bands and studies with Brian Keane and Sal Salvador [Stan Kenton Band], Harkness studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston. Then after a year of busking the streets of Europe, Harkness moved to Vermont where for five years he worked in the shop assisting master guitar builder Chip Wilson. At home in New York City, Harkness recently garnered the Outstanding Instrumentalist of 2011 Backstage Bistro Award, 2014 Broadwayworld Cabaret Award for Best CD Release, three MAC Awards for ensemble instrumentalist, his solo shows, and most recent CD with duo partner, Canadian trumpeter Mike Herriot. Sean is also a product endorser for DR Handmade Strings, George L.'s Cables, and D-Tar Pickup Systems. There is a $24 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
