NYC: NYC: CAROLYN MONTGOMERY-FORANT: VISIBLE PHOENIX UNPLUGGED
MAC, Back Stage Bistro and Nightlife Award winning singer, songwriter and recording artist Carolyn Montgomery-Forant, returns once more to the New York City stage in her first solo show in eight years! Her show 'Visible Phoenix' continues at THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909) on Thursday, February 18th at 7:00 pm. Only THIS time she is performing without her five-piece band in a very special, intimate evening with her Music Director Jon Weber (NPR Piano Jazz) in a show they're calling "Visible Phoenix Unplugged." Joining them will be her bevy of back-up babes, The Fine Whine. This will be the last time Montgomery-Forant presents this show in New York, as she sets off on a 20 city tour at the end of April 2016. Montgomery-Forant returned to the cabaret stage two year ago, in January 2014. Within nine short months, she was featured in the acclaimed review The Amanda McBroom Project (directed by Broadway's Arthur Masella, and co-starring Karen Akers, Mandy Gonzales, Lacretta Ross and KT Sullivan) at the Studio Theater in New York City; she appeared in the popular series Broadway by the Year at Town Hall and she co-starred at 54 Below to standing room only crowds in the hit show Dirty Little Songs. In addition, Montgomery-Forant took her fledging solo act to Davenport's in Chicago, The Hackney Attic in London, and Martuni's in San Francisco, delighting audiences and critics alike. Directed by Eric Michael Gillett, this comeback tour de force incorporates music from a wide range of genres and eras, original comedy, and a few songs with music and lyrics by Montgomery-Forant herself. There is just a $10 cover plus a $20 food/drink minimum, and you can pick up the CD for only $10 and Montgomery-Forant will sign it for you!
