LOS ANGELES, CA: A LITTLE NEW MUSIC 9 AT ROCKWELL: TABLE & STAGE

Having established itself as the premier night of new musical theatre in Los Angeles, A Little New Music returns to ROCKWELL: TABLE & STAGE (1714 Vermont Avenue, Los Angeles, CA - 323-669-1550) on Tuesday, September 15th at 8:00 pm with another fast-paced hour of the best new or unheard musical theater songs out there. Whether it's a recent premiere from an established writer or an undiscovered tune from a promising up-and-comer, our mission is to entertain with a program that keeps your finger on the pulse. A Little New Music 9 will showcase songs by Wallowitch and Kleban; Award-winners Sam Carner and Derek Gregor (UNLOCK'D); MAC Dottie Burman and ASCAP award-winning songwriter, Amy Engelhardt; Burwell & James Sasser (CUBAMOR); Danny Larsen and Michelle Elliot (THE YELLOW WOOD); Rob Rokicki (THE LIGHTNING THIEF); Andy Roninson (FOR THE BIRDS); Andrew J. Hanley, Kevin Fogarty (CALL ME HOME); Michael R. Jackson (ONLY CHILDREN); Rebekah M. Allen (WE ARE THE TIGERS); Lee Huff and Kelly Balk; Lauren Van Kurin and Amber Ruffin ("Late Night with Seth Meyers"); and more! Joining irreverently funny host Jordan Kai Burnett and musical director Bryan Blaskie onstage will be Jasmin Richardson (MEMPHIS Nat'l Tour), Cassandra Nuss (DOMA Theatre Company's AMERICAN IDIOT), Alli Miller (Cherry Poppins Productions), Anna Bowen (The Overstreets New Orleans Jazz Band), David Crane (New Musicals Inc's FORKS IN THE ROAD), Abby Eiland (ASSISTANTS THE MUSICAL), Brittney Bertier (IT'S ALL ABOUT UKE!), Austin MacPhee (Cabrillo's BYE BYE BIRDIE), Christopher Marcos (Teatro Nuevos' IN THE HEIGHTS), and Jotap• Lockwood (ADAM & EVE AND STEVE). With a special appearance from the team from KING OF KONG: A MUSICAL PARODY, winner "Best Overall Musical" at FringeNYC 2014 and recipient of A Little New Music's inaugural "Award for Outstanding Songwriting" at the 2015 Hollywood Fringe Festival. The performances include cast members Brendan Hunt and Lauren Van Kurin, plus the world premiere song with Christina Anthony ("Key & Peele"). And finally, a sneak peek from the cast and band of world premiere musical WE ARE THE TIGERS!. There is a $10-$20 cover plus a 2-item minimum per person.

LOS ANGELES, CA: JOHN LLOYD YOUNG .., MY TURN at STERLING'S AT THE FEDERAL

Tony Award winner John Lloyd Young, who originated the role of "Frankie Valli" in Broadway's Tony Award winning Best Musical and international hit, JERSEY BOYS, performs at STERLING'S AT THE FEDERAL (5303 Lankershim Boulevard, North Hollywood, CA - 818-754-8700) on Tuesday, September 15th at 7:30 pm. As Valli, Young garnered unprecedented accolades from New York and national media, including one of the most exciting New York Times reviews ever written for an actor making a Broadway debut. Mr. Young went on to win the Lead Actor Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle and Theatre World Awards, becoming the only American actor in history to win all four leading actor awards for a Broadway debut. Mr. Young sings lead vocals on the Platinum, Grammy Award-winning JERSEY BOYS Original Cast Album. Young returned to JERSEY BOYS on Broadway for several months in 2012 and 2013, and in early 2014 he made his West End debut in London opening JERSEY BOYS at the historic Piccadilly Theatre. Young also re-created his award-winning Broadway turn onscreen for director Clint Eastwood in Warner Brothers' film adaptation of JERSEY BOYS, which opened nationwide June 20, 2014. His appearance at Sterling's Upstairs marks his sixth headlining engagement since October, 14, 2014. Call for cover/minimum information.
