NYC: BROADWAY MEOWS BENEFIT CONCERT AT MAMA'S
FEATURED CABARET BENEFIT EVENT

The 7th Annual Broadway Meows Concert for the Humane Society of New York will be presented at DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788), one night only, Monday, July 13th at 7:00 pm. The evening will be comprised of songs by composer/ lyricist Seth Bisen-Hersh. Bisen-Hersh will be joined on stage by a phenomenal cast including Allie Trimm (13), Amanda Castano (Spring Awakening), Brian Shaw (Love Quirks), Elyse Beyer (Judy and Me), Gabrielle Ruiz (If/ Then), Kimberly Faye Greenberg (One Night with Fanny Brice), Laurel Harris (Evita), Lauren Testerman (Love Quirks), Miriam Kushel (More to Love), Nina Hennessey (Bye, Bye Birdie), Rebecca Larkin (South Pacific), Rob Richardson (Jekyll & Hyde), Robert McCaffrey (Love Quirks), Russell Fischer (Jersey Boys), Shelley Thomas (Brooklyn) and Teresa Hui (Love Quirks). The concert will be produced by Noah W. Sprock. The audience can expect to hear 20 songs from Bisen-Hersh's catalog featuring a few new tunes and also popular songs from Love Quirks, More to Love, Stanley's Party, If Adele Can Do It, So Can I and more. Songs will include "I'm Not Interested in You", "Dear Facebook", "Can You Believe I Was Ever Sad We Broke Up?" and "Why Do I Always Fall for Straight Boys?". All the proceeds for the evening will go to the Humane Society of New York, which has "cared for animals in need when illness, injury or homelessness strikes" for over 100 years. The Humane Society saved Bisen-Hersh's cat, Smee's, life in 2009, and this annual benefit is his way of saying thanks. There is an $18 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: PIPER THEATRE PRODUCTIONS PRESENTS AN ODE TO THE ANTI-HERO
FEATURED CABARET BENEFIT EVENT

The cast of Piper Theatre Productions' Sweeney Todd sings as Broadway's favorite anti-heros as a benefit concert towards heatwave victims in the Middle East at THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438) on Monday, July 13th at 7:00 pm. An Anti-hero is a character in a story who lacks conventional heroic qualities such as idealism, courage, and morality. The cast of Piper Theatre Production's Sweeney Todd will salute them, singing as Broadway's favorite cheaters, killers and monsters. The anti-hero is the character we love to hate ... or hate to love! All proceeds benefit heatwave victims in the Middle East. Sweeney Todd is currently playing at the Old Stone House in Park Slope, presented by Piper Theatre Productions. There is no cover - Just a 2-drink minimum. (Baskets will be passed during the show for charity donations.)

NYC: GABRIELLE STRAVELLI DEBUTS AT CORNELIA STREET CAFE

Gabrielle Stravelli, celebrated pop/ jazz vocalist will debut at CORNELIA STREET CAFE (29 Cornelia Street, NYC - 212-989-9319) on Monday, July 13th at 8:30 pm. The concert will preview songs, both original compositions and new version of classic standards, from her major new recording project to be released in the fall. Stravelli will be joined by Joshua Richman on piano, Pat O'Leary on bass and Eric Halvorson on drums. Waiting in Vain, her adventurous debut record combines the smoky ambiance of an underground supper club with exciting vocal chops, rhythmic dexterity and emotional yet intelligent interpretations. Highlights include the standards "Skylark," "In A Sentimental Mood" and "Love For Sale," in addition to the Miles Davis jazz classic "So What Boy," a haunting reinvention of the Peter, Bjorn and John 2006 global chart hit "Young Folks" and a lilting version of the Bob Marley song that gives the album its title. The album, recorded live at Zeb's in New York, is available on iTunes, Amazon and other music retailers. There is a $10 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.
 
NYC: METROPOLITAN ROOM'S 8TH ANNUAL METROSTAR TALENT CHALLENGE

The opening night of the Metropolitan Room's 8th Annual MetroStar Talent Challenge will take place at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440), The contest began on Monday, July 6th at 7:00 pm and runs for eight consecutive Mondays through August 24th. "MetroStar" encourages singers to present well-rounded stage performances in which creativity, innovation and authenticity are prized over vocal fireworks. Open to solo singers and vocal duos of all ages, backgrounds and styles who have not played a major engagement at the Metropolitan Room, which is defined as a 4-show prime-time run of the same show in a fixed period. "MetroStar" offers a career-boosting package of prizes and professional encouragements, including a fully produced primetime Met Room engagement and live recording. There is a $22.50 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: BROADWAY LOVES KATY PERRY AT 54 BELOW

On Tuesday, July 13th, over a dozen of Broadway's most distinctive voices will celebrate larger-than-life recording artist Katy Perry at 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551), singing many of her most fun-loving and heartfelt hits. Performances are at 7:00 & 9:30 pm. Katy Perry burst onto the scene in the summer of 2008 with the scandalous smash hit "I Kissed A Girl" and has since become a mainstay of popular culture. She became the first female artist to have 5 number-one singles on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 from the same album - the mulch-platinum "Teenage Dream." Now, over a dozen of your Broadway favorites are beating the summer heat as they take the 54 Below stage to bring new life to her greatest hits! Audiences can expect to hear the hit singles "Firework," "Roar," "Hot 'N' Cold," "Waking Up In Vegas," "Last Friday Night," as well as some of her more introspective tunes, "Not Like The Movies," "By The Grace of God," and more. Kitty Purry and Left Shark might even make a guest appearance. The evening will be produced and music directed by Benjamin Rauhala, and is the 6th in the Broadway Loves series, which previously celebrated Sam Smith, Celine Dion, the Spice Girls, Britney Spears, and the music of the 90's. There is a $35-$80 cover plus a $25 food/drink minimum.

NYC: CRISTIN MILIOTI RETURNS TO JOE'S PUB

Cristin Milioti returns to JOE'S PUB at THE PUBLIC THEATRE(425 Lafayette Street, NYC - 212-967-7555) on Monday, July 13th at 7:30 pm, after numerous sold out concerts, including the prestigious Lincoln Center's American Songbook. Cristin is known for her dramatic, comedic, and musical work on stage, television and in film. She starred as "Girl" in the Broadway smash hit musical ONCE, for which Cristin won a Grammy Award and was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Leading Actress in a Musical. On film, Milioti was most recently seen in Martin Scorsese's THE WOLF OF WALL STREET playing Jordan Belfort's (Leonardo DiCaprio's) wife, Teresa Petrillo. Milioti also played Tracy McConnell aka "The Mother" on CBS's hit comedy, HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, and most recently joined the cast of season two on FX's Golden Globe-winning drama, FARGO. Last fall she starred in the NBC comedy, A TO Z. There is a $30 cover.

NYC: JULIE KLAUSNER AT JOE'S PUB

Julie Klausner, host of "How Was Your Week", author of "I Don't Care About Your Band", and the creator/co-star of your new favorite TV show you haven't yet seen, Difficult People, performs at JOE'S PUB at THE PUBLIC THEATRE (425 Lafayette Street, NYC - 212-967-7555) on Tuesday, July 7th at 7:00 pm and Monday, July 13th at 9:30 pm. Don't expect anything besides complete and utter magic on this very special evening of music and comedic banter. Directed by Jodi Lennon. Featuring special guests and Musical Director Jon Spurney. There is a $25 cover.

The Broadway at Birdland concert series presents Broadway leading man Aaron Lazar in "Look For Me In The Songs" at BIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080) on Monday, July 13th at 7:00 pm. With one of the most versatile voices on Broadway, Aaron will perform timeless favorites from the Great American Songbook to Motown, from Broadway's greatest hits to Billy Joel.
