NYC: GRETCHEN REINHAGEN'S 70S SHOW AND BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION
Gretchen Reinhagen's 70s Show and Birthday Celebration will be presented at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Sunday, June 7th at 4:00 pm. Gretchen Reinhagen is a multi-award winning artist, receiving the coveted TRIPLE CROWN of cabaret awards in 2010 - the Nightlife Award, Bistro Award and MAC Award - for her show "Special Kaye: A Tribute to the Incomparable Kaye Ballard" directed by Barry Kleinbort, with Musical Director David Gaines. Gretchen has worked with some of the biggest names in cabaret including Steve Ross and Karen Mason. Her shows cover a broad range of material from Musical Comedy to Blues and Rock. As both a singer and an actress, she's performed in a broad range of theaters and concert halls from the House of Blues in New Orleans to the Assembly Rooms in Edinburgh, Scotland. A few of her favorite professional theater credits include Janis Joplin in Beehive, Louise Segar in Always Patsy Cline, Domina in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, the Narrator in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, the lead role of the therapist in the premiere of Mother Me Therapy at the Cherry Lane Theatre in New York, and the Queen Mother in the European premiere of Rumpelstiltskin's Daughter at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland. There is a $25 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: BEN RIMALOWER DEBUTS NEW PLAY "BAD WITH MONEY"
Ben Rimalower returns with his new play "Bad With Money" to THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438) on Sunday, June 7th at 7:00 pm. Ben Rimalower's addiction to spending beyond his means has driven him to extreme lengths all his life. In BAD WITH MONEY he charts his sometimes hilarious, sometimes harrowing struggle to overcome his problem - or get rich trying. "Bad With Money" is written and performed by Ben Rimalower and directed by Aaron Mark. Rimalower's first solo show, the long-running hit Patti Issues, explored his obsession with Broadway diva Patti LuPone and his relationship with his troubled gay father. Bad with Money delves into even deeper personal territory with the story of his struggle with debt - a journey that takes him through drug addiction, prostitution, fraud and multiple betrayals. There is a $25-$50 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
NYC: EMILY ASHER'S GARDEN PARTY: MEET ME IN THE MORNING CD RELEASE
Trombonist/ singer Emily Asher celebrates the release of her second full length album at JOE'S PUB at THE PUBLIC THEATRE (425 Lafayette Street, NYC - 212-967-7555) on Sunday, June 7th at 7:00 pm. Her CD 'Meet Me in the Morning; is a fresh new tail-shaking, joy-waking, romance-making, musical romp about self-inquiry, reckoning, and illumination featuring five original songs and five American standards. The band features Emily Asher, Trombone and Vocals; Mike Davis, Trumpet and Vocals; Evan Artzen, Alto Saxophone and Clarinet; Nick Russo, Guitar and Banjo; Dalton Ridenhour, Piano; Rob Adkins, Bass; and Jay Lepley, Drums and Vocals. Emily Asher is a Brooklyn-based trombonist and singer in strong demand as a bandleader and sidewoman in New York City and internationally. As a leader, Asher has produced four CDs and led US and Israel tours with Emily Asher's Garden Party and earned a prestigious Banff Residency with her Endangered Species Trio. She recorded and performed with Wycliffe Gordon on his "Hello Pops!" tribute to Louis Armstrong, and was a member of Nicholas Payton's Television Studio Orchestra, and has shared the stage with a wide variety of artists including Tony Bennett, Carol Burnett,, Talib Kweli, Chaka Khan, Terri Lyne Carrington, and many others. Emily's debut album, Dreams May Take You, featuring Wycliffe Gordon, was officially released April 15, 2012. June 6, 2013 marked the release of Emily Asher's Garden Party's six song EP: Carnival of Joy! a celebration of Hoagy Carmichael. Originally from Seattle, Emily earned three Bachelors degrees from the University of Washington. Upon graduating in 2004 she was hired as the Director of Bands at Ballou Junior High School in Puyallup, Washington where she taught for three years. In May of 2009 she completed her masters in music performance from CUNY Queens College. There is a $14 cover.
NYC: LINDSAY MENDEZ & MARCO PAGUIA AT BIRDLAND
The Broadway at Birdland concert series presents singer Lindsay Mendez and pianist/bandleader Marco Paguia, who will their return to BIRDLAND(315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080) on Sunday, June 7th at 6:00 pm. Lindsay Mendez and Marco Paguia met in 2010, and discovered a mutual love and passion for jazz. Lindsay and Marco draw from an eclectic mix of music, reimagining songs from popular music in the familiar setting of a jazz piano trio and vocalist. Their vast catalogue is comprised of the singers and songwriters that inspire them, including Alexi Murdoch, Alicia Keys, The Beatles, Feist, Fiona Apple, Gladys Knight, Janis Joplin, Jeff Buckley, Joni Mitchell, Lenny Kravitz, Macy Gray, Martin Sexton, Peter Gabriel, Pink Floyd, The Police, Stevie Wonder, and U2. Their debut album, "This Time," was released in 2013. The duo made their Lincoln Center debut as part of the American Songbook series last season. For this special engagement at Birdland, Lindsay & Marco will be featuring an expanded lineup, including a four-piece horn section. The show will feature Lindsay Mendez on vocals, Marco Paguia on piano, Greg Chudzik on bass, Tommy Crane on drums, Curtis Macdonald on alto saxophone, Kyle Wilson on tenor saxophone, Kenny Warren on trumpet, and Marshall Gilkes on trombone. Lindsay Mendez was most recently on Broadway seen playing Elphaba in the smash hit, Wicked. Her time there included performances on The Today Show and the Katie Couric show, in celebration of the 10th Anniversary of the production. Other Broadway credits include Godspell (2011 Revival), Everyday Rapture (Roundabout), Grease (2007 Revival.) Off-Broadway credits include Dogfight, directed by Joe Mantello (2nd Stage, *Drama Desk, Drama League, and Outer Critics Circle nominations for Best Actress,) Everyday Rapture (2nd Stage) The Marvelous Wonderettes. Other Credits include Saturday Night (York Theater), Hermione in The Public's production of The Winter's Tale (The DelaCorte Theater) Lin Manuel Miranda's production of 21 Chump Street as part of This American Life LIVE at BAM, A Little More Alive (KC Rep, directed by Sheryl Kaller), Ryan Scott Oliver's 35MM, Princesses (Goodspeed, 5th Avenue Theatre), Jacques Brel (TRTC). Marco Paguia is an accomplished pianist & music director sought after for his versatile music making. Marco's experience as a composer includes the short films Resolve, Remember, How to Act Around Cops (New York and Edinburgh Fringe Festivals). A recognized pianist as well, Marco released "Small Hours," the debut album with his trio. Marco was a finalist for the American Pianists' Association Cole Porter Fellowship. Broadway credits include If/Then, Peter and the Starcatcher, The Addams Family, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, Everyday Rapture, and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. There is a $25 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.
