NYC: GONE TOO SOON SERIES: TRIBUTE TO KAREN CARPENTER

Award Winning Cabaret Producer Joseph Macchia brings you his new series Gone Too Soon, in tribute to singers who have left us way too early. One Tuesday, June 30th at 7:00 pm some of the best singers in New York City will pay tribute to Karen Carpenter at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440). Performers scheduled to appear include Natasha Castillo, Joshua J. Bennett, Chrysten Peddie, Adam B. Shapiro, Brian C. Jones, and Nancy Ticotinwill. The evening will be musical directed by Yasuhiko Fukuoka. There is a $20.0 cover plus a 2-drink minimum..

NYC: JAZZ LEGEND ANNIE ROSS TUESDAYS THE METROPOLITAN ROOM

Jazz legend Annie Ross continues her unprecedented, record-breaking, multi-year run at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440), every Tuesday night at 9:30 pm. Ms. Ross has been an abundant contributor to the art of jazz for over 50 years. Born in the UK, she has been a permanent resident of the USA for many years and a US citizen since 2001. Annie Ross is one of the pioneers of vocalese and the composer of "Twisted", one of the most well known examples of that art, as well as "Farmers Market", "Jackie" and many others. A founding member of Lambert, Hendricks and Ross, considered the greatest jazz vocal ensemble of all time, her influence is present in all subsequent practitioners of vocalese. "Twisted" has been recorded by a host of vocalists, including some not normally associated with jazz, including Joni Mitchell and Bette Midler. There is a $25 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: MAMA'S NEXT BIG ACT - NEW 12 WEEK CONTEST!

DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788) opened the first annual "Mama's Next BIG Act!" began on Tuesday, June 9th at 9:30 pm. The contest will run for 12 consecutive weeks, every Tuesday through August 25th. The event is a bigger than average, 12-week competition that mixes styles and genres. Voted by the audience and a cavalcade of celebrity judges, the contest will invite solo, duo and group acts in the following categories: music, magic, drag, burlesque, and variety. Mama's Next BIG Act! is open to any musical act over the age of 18. Musical acts may consist of solo, duo or groups, and may be of any genre or style. Acts may use the club's pianist or bring their own. A guitar or bass may also be used. Tracks may be used, but live music is preferred. Vocal Groups, Drag Artists, Variety and Burlesque acts are encouraged to submit, as well as Solo and Duo Vocal Acts. The preliminary rounds are June 9th, June 16th, and June 23rd. Each week, contestants will be eliminated based on votes by the judges as well as the audience. There is a $12 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: CROSSDRESSER FOR CHRIST - THE MUSICAL, A DRAG QUEEN CONFESSIONAL

After an acclaimed debut in May, RuPaul's Drag Race favorite Ginger Minj returns to New York City with 'Crossdresser For Christ - The Musical, A Drag Queen Confessional' at THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE(407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909) opening on Tuesday, June 30th at 9:30 pm. Additional performances are scheduled for Friday, July 3rd at 7:00 pm; Sunday, July 5th at 3:00 pm; Tuesday, July 14th at 7:00 pm; and Sunday, July 19th at 7:00 pm. The show is musical comedy that tracks Ginger Minj's quest for spiritual enlightenment in song and story. Raised as a Southern Baptist in Lake County, Florida the self-described "chubby little lady-boy" gets tired of having hell and damnation shoved down her throat. So she begins her own search for alternative answers. It is a wild and wacky journey that promises to have you on your knees before the night is over. A relig-ish experience. There is a $22-$40 cover plus a $20 food/drink minimum.

NYC: JEREMY JORDAN RETURNS TO 54 BELOW

After a sold-out two-week NYC solo concert debut last fall, Jeremy Jordan returns to 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) for eight performances this summer with a brand new show. Shows are scheduled for Monday through Wednesday, June 22nd through 24th and Friday & Saturday, June 26th & 27th at 7:00 pm, with an added show on the 27th at 9:30 pm and Monday & Tuesday, June 29th & 30th at 7:00 pm. The star of The Last 5 Years movie has Broadway credits that include Newsies, Bonnie & Clyde, West Side Story, and Rock of Ages. He is also known for his role on NBC's Smash, as well as major concert engagements such as A Bed And A Chair at Encores! and Parade at Avery Fisher Hall. There is a $65-$120 cover plus a $25 food/drink minimum.

NYC: SONGBIRD IN CONCERT BY LAUREN PRITCHARD & MICHAEL KIMMEL

In anticipation of the upcoming New York premiere of Songbird, written by Michael Kimmel (The Last Goodbye) with music and lyrics by Lauren Pritchard (Spring Awakening), 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) presents a one-night only event celebrating the music of Songbird as well as the songs that inspired it on Tuesday, June 30th at 9:30 pm. Based on Chekhov's The Seagull, Songbird is an exciting new take on the whiskey soaked nights and hung-over dreams of Nashville's contemporary country music scene. The evening will include both Broadway veterans and its newest stars performing selections from the show, "Bonus Tracks" of never-performed material, and the classic country western tunes that inspired it. The evening promises to be a raucous and soulful shindig providing a glimpse into the raw, acoustic world of Songbird, a community of creatives fueled on talent, promise and booze. There is a $25-$60 cover plus a $25 food/drink minimum.

NYC: KELLYLEE EVANS AT JOE'S PUB

Rising star singer/ songwriter Kellylee Evans performs at JOE'S PUB at THE PUBLIC THEATRE(425 Lafayette Street, NYC - 212-967-7555) on Tuesday, June30th at 7:30 pm. Evans is a chameleon-like performer, whose natural charm and improvisational jazz vocal style have shined on her adventurous journey through jazz, soul, pop and hip-hop over the past decade. In that period she released two indie solo albums of original songs in Canada, earned two Juno Award nominations - winning "Best Jazz Vocal Album" for Nina, her impassioned tribute to Nina Simone - captivated adoring French and Canadian fan bases and performed around the world, opening for such stars as John Legend, Dianne Reeves, Derek Trucks, George Benson and Willy Nelson. She is about to stun America with her U.S. debut on Motéma Music, I Remember When, on which she brilliantly refreshes and puts her stamp on songs by hip-hop royalty Eminem, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dog, Kanye West and others. There is a $20 cover.

NYC: JOE'S PUB PRESENTS FREESTYLE LOVE SUPREME

Freestyle Love Supreme will be presented at JOE'S PUB at THE PUBLIC THEATRE (425 Lafayette Street, NYC - 212-967-7555) on Tuesday, June 30th with performances at 9:30 & 11:30 pm. Freestyle Love Supreme is a stage show like no other. Five performers take the crowd on a non-stop hip hop improv ride, spinning cues from the audience into instantaneous riffs and fully realized musical numbers. The group has performed at the Edinburgh International Fringe Festival, the HBO US Comedy Arts Festival, the Melbourne Comedy Festival, Paramount Comedy UK and the Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal. In addition to corporately sponsored performances for Sierra Mist and Rave Wireless, FLS also travels to colleges across the country. Recent gigs include Hamilton College, Steven's Technical Institute, Montclair State University and Kenyon College. The show was developed by two of the creators of the Tony Award-winning musical 'In The Heights'. There is a $20 cover.
