2013 MetroStar Winner Lauren Stanford brings Helen Morgan back to life in 'More Than You Know' at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Friday, March 20th at 9:30 pm. Late nights in Prohibition-era NYC you could find singer Helen Morgan iconically perched on the piano at her club, relying too much on brandy and 'torching' until even the most hardened gangster wept into his beer. Lauren's show, directed by Eric Michael Gillett with Music Direction by Mike Pettry, contains songs the chanteuse made famous, including Jerome Kern's "Bill" and "Why Was I Born." Stanford wrote the piece, a dramatic recreation of Helen Morgan's final night in residency at NYC's Simplon Club. there is a $25-$65 cover plus a $25 food/drink minimum.
