NYC: JUDY AND LIZA TOGETHER AGAIN AT MAMA'S
Cabaret favorites Tommy Femia and Rick Skye have teamed up for another evening of "Judy and Liza Together Again" at DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788) on Saturday, March 21st at 8:00 pm. They are joined by Ricky Ritzel (as Mort) at the piano. These MAC Award winning performers (Best Impersonation) will pull out all the stops, singing classic solo's, parodies, duets and just plain whooping and hollering by the greatest mother/ daughter team in show biz history. Tommy Femia is a 7 time winner of the Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs (MAC) Award for his brilliant portrayal of Judy Garland in "Judy Garland LIVE!", now in it's 20th season at Don't Tell Mama. He has also starred in "Whoop-de-doo", "I Will Come Back" and, most recently, "Norma Does Men". Rick Skye is best known for writing a string of outrageous comic revues including "The Flip Side of Neil Sedaka", "MaCabaret - a tabloid fable", "The War of the Mama Roses", "It's Madame with an E" and the International hit - "A Slice O' Minnelli" for which has enjoyed successful season's in Covent Garden, at the Apollo Theatre in London's West End and at the Dublin Theatre Festival where he received the Award for "Best Achievement in Performance". NYC: BOB DOROUGH TRIO AT CAFE NOCTAMBULO AT PANGEA
The Bob Dorough Trio, with Pat O'Leary on bass and Steve Berger on guitar, performs at CAFE NOCTAMBULO AT PANGEA (178 Second Avenue, NYC - 212-995-0900) on Saturday, March 21st with shows at 7:00 & 9:00 pm. Dorough worked with Miles Davis and Blossom Dearie, and his adventurous style was an influence on Mose Allison, among other singers. He is perhaps best known as the primary composer of and performer of many of the songs used in Schoolhouse Rock!, a series of educational animated shorts appearing on Saturday morning television in the 1970s and 1980s on ABC affiliates in the United States. He has released vocal jazz albums periodically over the last 50 years; his latest, Eulalia, came out in 2014. There is a $20 cover plus a $15 food/drink minimum.

Watch your skinny backs Kathy Griffith, Chelsea Handler and Sandra Bernhard - Erica Watson (Precious, Top 5, Empire) is coming for you with the return of FAT BITCH! to THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909) on Saturday, March 21st at 7:00 pm. After an acclaimed debut in 2010, this solo show written and performed by Watson returns. FAT BITCH! is a funny, provocative glimpse at the American "fat and sassy" black woman stereotype. Plus-sized performer Erica Watson explores society's obsession with weight, race and class and how black women's bodies have always been subjected to both admiration and ridicule. Drawing upon iconic images including "Mammy" and "Hottentot Venus," Watson illustrates how media images have impacted her self-esteem as she touches on PETA's "Save the Whales" campaign aimed at overweight women, the "war on obesity," and the controversy surrounding President Obama's nomination of a plus-sized black woman for Surgeon General. Since the release of his debut CD, Crazy She Calls Me, Dexter Porter has made an impressive splash on the world of jazz. Now he presents a live performance of the music from the CD at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM(34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Saturday, March 21st at 7:00 pm. From the sleek and smokey legendary lounges of NY to the exotic isles of the Mediterranean to the Teatro Presidente' of El Salvador, Porter's seamless performances are commanding that the world stand up and take notice. Dexter Porter is a jazz standards vocalist originally from Eatonton, GA and is presently living in Weehawken, NJ. At the urging of friends, Porter changed his focus from a career in musical theatre and television in the great city of New York to a career as a jazz vocalist. Dexter began with pianist, David Marck, to develop a repertoire of standards to perform in such notable nightclubs as: Windows on the World, Birdland Jazz Club, The Triad, Nell's and on Tuesday's at Ashford and Simpson's "Sugar Bar Restaurant and Lounge." Kristine Mills, critically acclaimed jazz vocalist and songwriter, will present her own interpretation of the artists who inspired her own musical journey at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Saturday, March 21st at 9:30 pm. Songs sung by the women that inspire us: Billy Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Peggy Lee, Roberta Flack, Tina Turner, Etta James, Eartha Kitt, Annie Lennox, and more will feature in this special performance. Great musicians and interpreters of heart warming stories, the formative females voices and iconic sounds that paved the way for those who followed. Mills has been entertaining audiences throughout the US and Brazil with her graceful stage presence, welcoming warmth and magnetic voice. Accolades include Houston Press Music Awards "Best Female Vocalist" and "Best Songwriter" and Rocks-Off Houston's 100 Most Distinguished Artists. Gold REMI Award for composing and performing the film soundtrack for "Collector's Waltz." Jeff Franzel, Grammy nominated pianist and composer with 30+ years' experience shares the stage with Kristine. His career as a jazz pianist, accompanying artists such as Sammy Davis, Jr. and Frank Sinatra in addition to performing and recording his own music also includes great success writing for films, TV, and a variety of genres and artists. This promises to be a special collaboration. Jeff's songs have been featured on 20+ platinum albums and has top ten hits in nine countries. Jeff is currently arranging and playing piano with Billy Joel for a tribute record using well known country artists to record Joel's hit songs. Saadi Zain, New York City based bassist completes the trio. This first-call musician is furthering a career enjoyed for over two decades performing jazz, cabaret, classical music, musical theater, R&B and pop music. Among the artists Saadi has performed with are Houston Person, Ron Carter, Jessye Norman, Linda Lavin, Sheila Jordan, Patrick Page, The Jimmy Heath Big Band and the Mingus Orchestra. Saadi currently performs in the Broadway orchestras of "The Lion King," "The Phantom of the Opera" and "Motown," has played many shows on tour and has performed internationally in Italy, Spain, Austria, France, Poland, China, Taiwan and Malaysia.
