NYC: "RED HOT MAMA: THE SOPHIE TUCKER FAREWELL TOUR"

Tony nominated Sharon McNight is bringing back her hit show "Red Hot Mama" for one last time. "Red Hot Mama: The Sophie Tucker Farewell Tour" will be presented at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Sunday, July 20th at 7:00 pm; Wednesday, July 23rd at 9:30 pm; Friday, August 1st at 9:30 pm; and Sunday August 3rd at 9:30 pm. The comic singer originally performed this show, with a sold out run at the fabled Rainbow in Stars back in 1996. She followed that with a four-month, Off-Broadway run at the York Theatre. McNight just completed eight weeks as Mrs. Obrien in the San Francisco Opera's production of "Show Boat," soon to be seen on PBS. There is a $25 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

HERNDON, VA: NEXTSTOP THEATRE SUMMER CABARET SERIES - DC CABARET NETWORK SHOWCASE

NextStop Theatre Company has announced the next bold, new offering in their ambitious inaugural season atNEXTSTOP THEATRE (269 Sunset Park Drive, Herndon, VA - 866-811-4111). Under the leadership of Series Producer, area based performing artist Jim Van Slyke, the company will present eighteen intimate concerts, featuring a eclectic mixture of Broadway stars, nationally acclaimed cabaret artists and some of the finest local singers in the DC Metropolitan area. Running from Friday, July 11th to Saturday, August 16th in the company's 114-seat black box theatre, audiences will be invited to grab a drink or snack from the bar and be transported for evenings featuring classics from musical theatre, jazz, rock, soul and even current hits. On Sunday, August 3rd at 6:30 pm the DCCN (DC Cabaret Network) Showcase will be presented at NextStop. The DC Metropolitan region is home to a thriving community of cabaret performers. See just a few of the remarkable voices that are leading the charge. CHICAGO: FREEMAN, MENZIE & ORLAND CELEBRATE KING, SIMON & MITCHELL

Laura Freeman, Beckie Menzie & Marianne Murphy Orland celebrate the ground-breaking music of Carole King, Carly Simon and Joni Mitchell atDAVENPORT'S (1383 North Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago, IL - 773-278-1830) on Friday & Saturday, August 1st & 2nd at 8:00 pm and Sunday, August 3rd at 7:00 pm. The show is inspired by the book "Girls Like Us". PALM SPRINGS: JACK BETTS IN "ON MY WAY HERE" IN PALM DESERT

Actor, singer, playwright and director Jack Betts will make his debut appearance at THE ARTHUR NEWMAN THEATRE at the JOSLYN CENTER (73-750 Catalina Way, Palm Desert, CA - TKTS: 760-325-2731) on Sunday, August 3rd at 2:00 pm in a one-man mini-musical biography of his long and successful career in "On My Way Here". The show is part of Les Michael's Sundays In Summer Series. The show will touch on Betts more than 5 decades as a leading man and guest star in film, stage, and television productions. Joined by Los Angeles musical director Ron Snyder on the baby grand piano, Jack will being singing songs that will showcase his dramatic as well as comedic sides. There is an $11 cash cover.
