OCTOBER CABARET CELEBRATIONS START ON THE 13th
THE EIGHTH ANNUAL BROADWAY CABARET FESTIVAL takes place at THE TOWN HALL (123 West 43rd Street, NYC - 212-997-1929) over three consecutive weeks in October, 2012. It begins on Saturday, October 13th at 8:00 pm with "Linda Eder: A New Life", and continues on Sunday, October 21st at 3:00 pm with "Broadway Originals!". The Festival concludes on Friday, October 26th at 8:00 pm with "The Best of Broadway by the Year!". The Broadway Cabaret Festival is created, written and hosted by Scott Siegel for The Town Hall. Performers for the festival include Linda Eder, Robert Cuccioli, Christiane Noll, Beth Leavel, Matt Cavenaugh, Tovah Feldshuh, Mandy Gonzalez, Chad Kimball, Christine Andreas, Stephen Derosa, Kerry O'malley, Alice Ripley, Lari White, Karen Ziemba, Noah Racey, Jeffry Denman, Scott Coulter, Christina Bianco, Carole J. CCP will present three awards at the event: Lifetime Achievement Award Honoree will be Marilyn Maye; Gold Coast Award Honoree will be Spider Saloff; Special Recognition Award Honoree will be The Mabel Mercer Foundation and its founder, Donald Smith, accepted by Rick Meadows of the Foundation. THE 23rd MABEL MERCER CABARET CONVENTION will be held Wednesday through Friday, October 17th through 19th atFREDERICK P. ROSE HALL (Columbus Circle, Broadway at 60th Street, NYC - CenterCharge: 212-721-6500). The annual New York City Cabaret Convention, conceived, launched, and brilliantly sustained for the past 23 seasons by The Mabel Mercer Foundation, will honor the founder of the organization, Donald F. Smith, who passed away in March 2012. Wednesday, October 17th: Gala Opening Night, hosted by KT Sullivan (named in April as the Foundation's Artistic Director). Includes the annual presentations of The Julie Wilson Award (to Shana Farr) and The Noel Coward Award (to Jeff Harnar). Thursday, October 18th: Salute to Cole Porter hosted by Andrea Marcovicci and Jeff Harnar. Friday, October 19th: Thanks for the Memory, hosted by Klea Blackhurst. Includes the presentation of the annual Mabel Mercer Award (to Christine Andreas) and the first annual Donald F. Smith Award (to Ms. Blackhurst). All three performances begin at 6:00 pm.
