A MARCH IS CABARET MONTH EVENT
On Saturday, March 26th, local Albany, NY news anchor Jerry Gretzinger (WRGB, CBS 6) will be channeling Frank Sinatra in performance when Fort Salem Theaterpresents "Jerry Gretziunger singing Mostly Frank" at WAMC'S LINDA NORRIS AUDITORIUM (339 Central Avenue, Albany, NY - 518-465-5233 ext 4). Gretzinger is no stranger to performing live in front of an audience. He's been acting in musicals and comedies since he was just five years old. He's also a member of The Singing Anchors, which combines his talents with those of Jessica Layton and Benita Zahn (anchors at rival WNYT, NewsChannel 13). The band is led by pianist Jay Kerr, owner and artistic director of Fort Salem Theater. Kerr, who has worked with the likes of Better Midler, Phil Silvers, and Joanne Woodward, created Mostly Frank with the news anchor and arranged the songs to pay appropriate tribute to Sinatra while catering to Gretzinger's style. Members of Albany's own Swing Docs Big Band round out the musicians, including Rich Uhl on saxophone, Mark Silverbush on drums, Jack Bastow on bass, Bill Alston on guitar, Jeff Trowbridge on trombone, and Mark Eiser on trumpet.
