NYC: THE MUSIC & LYRICS OF TYLER PHILLIPS: LIVE IN NYC
The eclectic catalogue of composer/lyricist Tyler Phillips returns to THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATER (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909 - ) on Monday, August 2nd at 9:30 pm. The show is an evening of selections inspired by the greatest city on earth. Tyler, whose influences range between the sounds of Kurt Weill and Kurt Cobain, has had his work heard across the country at the Sundance Film Festival, The York Theater (NYC), The Zachary Scott Theater Center (Austin), on the HBO Family Channel and at many concert halls and clubs. At the age of 22, he calls Brooklyn home and the Laurie Beechman Theater home-base for his original-theatre-based series, "Name 'N Lights." This collection of theatricals songs is derived from observations made along the author's own journey as a young writer from Bergheim, Texas to the Capital of the World. A live band rotates between music scored for the stage, screen, club and cabaret while some of NYC's most exciting vocalists lead the way. Performers singing Ms. Phillips' songs include Emily Kinney, Brad Giovanine, Conly Basham, Katie Reid, Chris Gleim and more. There is a $10 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.
