NYC: THE HEATH BROTHERS QUARTET AT BIRDLAND
The Heath Brothers, with Jimmy Heath (sax), Tootie Heath (drums), Jeb Patton (piano), David Wong (bass) perform at BIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080 - ) Tuesday through Saturday, August 3rd through 7th, with shows at 8:30 & 11:00 pm. The Heath Brothers have been contributing mightily to the language of jazz since the 1940s. Heath Brothers fashion is a cool and modest understatement. These are jazz's elder statesmen who are swinging hard and having fun, excited to be carrying on the legacy. There is a $30-$40 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.
