CHICAGO: "WHERE DO YOU START?" A MUSICAL GLIMPSE AT LIFE'S JOURNEY

Martha Bartz and musical director Dr. Mory Ortman present an evening of cabaret music on Thursday, May 21st at THE SKOKIE THEATRE (7924 Lincoln Avenue, Skokie, IL - 847-677-7761). Where Do You Start? (A Musical Glimpse at Life's Journey ) takes the audience on a fun, fast and thoughtful journey through life using the American songbook, familiar and new! Humor, passion, and emotion combine through great singing and story-telling to create this fun and entertaining hour of music. The music ranges from well known and loved standards to newer compositions of Jason Robert Brown, Adam Gwon and others. Something for everyone! Martha Bartz is in demand as a mezzo soprano classical concert and oratorio soloist, solo recitalist, cabaret performer and opera principal. Recently, Ms. Bartz has appeared on the opera, oratorio, cabaret and recital stages. She was a winner of the 2010 Classical Singer convention in New York City (musical theater) and the 2008 NYC NATS competition and finalist in the 2009 International Lotte Lehmann Cybersing competition. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

CHICAGO: CONTOUR THEATRE PRESENTS HEARTSTRINGS AND BROKEN RECORDS

The brand new premier Chicago Theater Company: Contour Theatre will launch an original cabaret "Heartstrings and Broken Records" Written and directed by Jordan Taylor, "Heartstrings and Broken Records" at DAVENPORT'S (1383 North Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago, IL - 773-278-1830) on Thursday, May 21st at 8:00 pm. The show shares in the sorrow, laughs, and tragedy of breakups. You will see performances by some of Chicago's finest musical theater actors.The all-star cast includes Veronica Garza, Erin Daly, Katerina Papadatos, Andrew Nicholas Sickel, William Wilhelm, Casi Maggio Kristant, Lindsay Hoops, Robin Bousel, Jackie Parrilli, and Aimee Erickson. Billed as "A cabaret about breakups," this one-night-only event will feature songs that share in the sorrow, hilarity, and tragedy of relationships. All songs are written by Contour Theatre's Managing Director, Jordan Scott Taylor. There is a $15 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
