NYC: CABARET CARES/HELP IS ON THE WAY TODAY ANNUAL GALA
FEATURED CABARET BENEFIT EVENT

Cabaret Cares/Help Is On The Way Today will hold its annual fundraising Gala on Sunday, May 17th, at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440). Help Is On The Way Today is a 501c3 non-profit organization founded in 2005 by MAC AWARD winning producer, Joseph Macchia, to assist children and youth living with HIV and AIDS. Doors open at 5:00 pm, and after mingling and conversation, buffet dinner will be served at 6:00 pm. At 7:30 pm the live auction begins, with the show and awards presentations beginning at 8:00 pm. The Gala ticket includes a cocktail hour, a delicious buffet dinner, unlimited beer, wine, soda and the special Gala cocktail, a fabulous show with New York's finest Broadway and Cabaret talent, a live auction and a gift bag. Doors open at 5:00 pm, and after mingling and conversation, buffet dinner will be served at 6:00 pm. The talent lineup includes: Jim Brochu, Beau Howard, Barbara Malley, Karen Mason, Liz McKendry, Gretchen Reinhagen, Anthony Santelmo Jr., Stacy Sullivan and more to be announced. 2015 MAC Award winner, Tom Gamblin, will host. Since its founding in 2005, Help Is On The Way Today has raised over $100,000.00 and assisted more than 700 children in need. Fundraising is undertaken primarily through monthly performances by many of New York's finest nightclub and theater performers, and supports annual Backpack and School Supply Drive, scholarships for summer camp and an annual Holiday Toy and Gift Drive. The charity also helps families and organizations with special and immediate needs. Help Is On The Way Today is currently working on a new mentoring initiative. SALON - that unique, Multiple Award Winning, Weekly Open Mic Event, created and hosted by Mark Janas continues at ETCETERA ETCETERA (352 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-399-4141) on Sundays from 7:00 to 10:30 pm (sign-up begins at 6:15 pm). Salon is an ongoing open entertainment event in which singers, writers and musicians share their talent with each other and audience members. The optional theme for Sunday evening May 17th is "On A Queer Day You Can Sing Forever" Co-Host will be Carly Ozard. The Salon Spotlight will feature Tym Moss. Dry with a Twist Theatrics is mounting its biggest endeavor yet: a brand new comedy! And so since they are showing off a new work, why not show off new works of others! NYC: "SEARCH: PAUL CLAYTON" THE MAN WHO LOVED BOB DYLAN

STAGE 72 (158 West 72nd Street, NYC - 212-362-2590) presents the New York premiere of a new folk musical, 'Search: Paul Clayton, the Man Who Loved Bob Dylan', which features 14 classic folk songs, The show will play for 13 performances only from Wednesday, May 6th through Thursday, May 21st. Showtimes and days vary so check the STAGE 72 Website. The opening night is Thursday, May 7th at 7:00 pm, with a second show on Friday, May 8th at 9:00 pm. 'Search: Paul Clayton' celebrates the true story in words and song of one of Bob Dylan's first musical mentors. Paul Clayton of New Bedford, Massachusetts was the most recorded young folk singer in America when Bobby Zimmerman arrived in 1961 Greenwich Village to begin his career as Bob Dylan. It was Paul who helped open the doors of the folk world to him. From 1961 to 1965 Paul taught Bob the tricks of the trade, while falling hopelessly in love with him. The show was conceived and written by Larry Mollin ("Beverly Hills 90210"), directed by Randal Myler (Tony Award nominee, It Ain't Nothin' But The Blues) with musical direction by Fred Mollin and is produced by Dan Whitten and TIGER Theatricals. "Search: Paul Clayton" will feature Peter Oyloe as Paul Clayton, Jared Weiss as Bob Dylan, Ereni Sevasti as Joan Baez, Jaime Babbitt as Carla Rotolo, Allan Harris as the Rev. NYC: BROADWAY SINGS BRUNO MARS AT THE CUTTING ROOM

Created in 2012, the acclaimed Broadway Sings concert series salutes well-known pop icons while twisting their music to create brand new arrangements created specifically for the Broadway performer singing the song. Now they move to THE CUTTING ROOM (44 East 32nd Street, NYC - 212-691-1900) on Sunday, May 17th with "Broadway Sings Bruno Mars" from 8:30 to 11:00 pm. Twenty Broadway performers will be celebrating the artists' hit songs along with an ensemble of eight musicians playing original orchestrations. The concerts are produced by Corey Mach (Wicked, Godspell) and musically directed by Joshua Stephen Kartes. NYC: 54 SINGS THE LIFE

In 1997, the musical The Life transported Broadway back to a pre-Disney Times Square - a much grittier time in NYC where hookers, hustlers, and even young dreamers battled it out in a game of survivor. For one night only, on Sunday, May 17th, The Life returns to the "Great White Way" and 54 BELOW(254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551), featuring members of the Tony-nominated original cast. Performances are at 7:00 & 9:30 pm. The cast will perform the familiar Cy Coleman- Ira Gasman score, including the songs "The Oldest Profession", "My Body", "People Magazine", "My Friend", and more. NYC: VILLAIN DEBLANKS: A BENEFIT FOR ST. JUDE CHILDREN'S RESEARCH HOSPITAL

The Meeting*, hosted by Justin Sayre, has returned to its downtown roots this year for another season of shows at JOE'S PUB at THE PUBLIC THEATRE (425 Lafayette Street, NYC - 212-967-7555). The Meeting* is known for a signature blend of outrageous comedy, politics, culture and everything in between. The April show, on Sunday, May 17th at 9:30 pm, will be a celebration of The Indigo Girls. Tracy Stark serves as the show's Music Director.
