TORONTO: ELIZABETH SHEPHERD & KEVIN BREIT AT THE JAZZ BISTRO

Velvety-voiced vocalist/pianist Elizabeth Shepherd performs at THE JAZZ BISTRO (251 Victoria Street, Toronto, ONT, CA - 416-363-5299) on Wednesday, January 28th with sets from 8:00 to 10:30 pm. Shepherd arrived on the international scene in 2006 when her debut album 'Start To Move' was voted one of the top jazz albums by the Gilles Peterson Show (BBC Radio Worldwide). Since then, the Montreal-based, 3-time JUNO nominee has released five widely acclaimed, innovatively soulful records and toured extensively in North America, Europe, Japan and Mexico. She has shared the stage with Victor Wooten, Christian McBride, Lionel Loueke, and Jamie Cullum, but for this show, will be joining forces for with Canadian guitar royalty, Kevin Breit. A much sought-after session musician, Kevin has played with Norah Jones, Marc Jordan, Holly Cole, Harry Manx and Molly Johnson, to name a few. The JUNO-winning guitarist also heads the Sisters Euclid - a fixture of Toronto's live music scene. For one night only, Elizabeth and Kevin will be presenting the next instalment of 'The Mixtape Sessions'. Started in 2014, The Mixtape Sessions sees Elizabeth invite some of her favourite musicians to share songs they've written - and the "mixtape-worthy" songs they wish they'd written - in an intimate setting. What happens next is an unscripted night of 2 great musicians getting to know each other in musical real-time. While guests may come from eclectic backgrounds, the encounter always allows for spontaneous improvisation, making each show a one-of-a-kind performance. There is a $20 cover.
