NYC: THE TED & LO SHOW: "THIS MAY HURT A BIT"

The award-winning Ted & Lo Show, starring Lorinda Lisitza and Ted Stafford, returns to DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788) on Sunday, January 11th at 4:00 pm. "This May Hurt a Bit" is the title of both this second episode of The Ted & Lo Show and a Lisitza/Stafford original song featured in the set. As Lisitza sings "I'm gonna break you down," the duo begins a guided tour of evil and the human psyche. The songs search the minds of serial killers and doomed pop royalty for impulses and fears common to us all. "Hold on," sings Lisitza. When you get down to the heart of the matter, love is still stronger than hate. Truth and beauty reside in the shared experience of music. Ted & Lo deliver a one-two punch that will make you laugh and cry at the same time. This may hurt a bit. Lisitza & Ted Stafford met in 2011 and have been singing together ever since. Their tasty arrangements of well-known covers, obscure new music, and original compositions prove that one guitar, one harmonica, and two voices can sound as big as an arena rock band or as immediate as the listener's own conscience. There is a $10 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

Singer/ actor John Gabriel will perform at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Sunday, January 11th at 7:00 pm. John Gabriel was born in Niagara Falls and raised in Los Angeles. Gabriel enjoys a career that spans a variety of media and genre. John is truly as gifted a singer as he is an actor. He is blessed with movie star good looks as well as a charming sense of humor. He got his first taste of show business as a student at U.C.L.A.. But Gabriel's stint in the Air Force provided the solid foundation needed to "learn the ropes." Based in Alamagordo, New Mexico and charged with the responsibility of providing entertainment for the troops, by the end of his military service, he knew where he was headed next - Hollywood! Hearing that Fox Studios was looking for leading man types, John sent in a photo. He was signed by Fox, making his feature film debut in "The Young Lions" starring Marlon Brando followed by a featured role in "The Hunters" with Robert Mitchum and Robert Wagner. John was the original professor in "Gilligan's Island." He played Pedro the Mexican bandito in Howard Hawk's "El Dorado" starring John Wayne for which he also wrote the title song with Nelson Riddle. Then, bi-coastal John played the lead on Broadway in "The Happy Time" and "Applause." While in New York cabarets he landed his first soap opera, "Love of Life" (Linc Morrison). Gabriel was chosen for the reoccurring role of Andy Rivers, Mary Richards' sportscaster boyfriend on "The Mary Tyler Moore Show," but the part for which he is best known is that of Dr. Seneca Beaulac, on the enduring and memorable ABC soap, "Ryan's Hope." John spent 10 years in that role, garnering an Emmy nomination and 20 million faithful fans. He went on to another ABC soap, "Loving," playing ace lawyer Zack Conway. While at ABC daytime, he continued the pursuit of his music. He gathered other musically inclined soap actors and recorded "John Gabriel and Friends" (Cadence). John hosted his highly successful radio show on the RKO network, was the host of American Movie Classics, host and creator of King World's "Soap Spot" and producer/on air talent for his long time friend Charles Grodin's talk show on CNBC and MSNBC. He was also commercial spokesman for The Wall Street Journal for three years and ten years, Oldsmobile.
