Pianist Cyrus Chestnut will perform at BLUES ALLEY(1073 Wisconsin Avenue NW, Washington, DC - 202-337-4141) on Thursday through Sunday, January 15th through 18th with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. Chestnut appeals to both aficionados and fans alike. Adept enough to perform with Wynton Marsalis, yet hip enough to make the "Peanuts" album swing. Chestnut worked with a number of top-notch musicians including Jon Hendricks, Betty Carter, Terence Blanchard, and Donald Harrison, before recording his first solo CD at the age of 30. Chestnut enjoys mixing styles and resists being typecast in any one niche, though his gospel sound is apparent on a number of his recordings. There is a $27.50 cover.

Aaron Myers And Company will perform at BETHESDA BLUES & JAZZ SUPPER CLUB (7719 Wisconsin Avenue, Bethesda, MD - 240-330-4500) on Thursday, January 15th at 7:30 pm. The vocalist and pianist Aaron Myers is a lover and practitioner of Jazz, Blues, Gospel and the American Songbook. He tugs jazz standards down into cozy, neo-soul-inflected territory. Hearing his new adaptation on old favorites while offering new compositions to this genre, will leave you with a new appreciation for this American art form. With a touch of Comedy, Aaron leaves you with his one of a kind interpretation, while challenging you to do the same! There is a $10 cover.
