NYC: BARRET IS BACK ON RESTAURANT ROW

Chris Barrett returns to LA RIVISTA RISTORANTE (313 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-366-4603) on Monday, May 19th, where he will be at the piano Mondays through Wednesdays. There are two shows nightly, a dinner show at 8:00 and a supper show at 10:00 pm. Chris Barrett's performances are in the tradition of the great late-night boites of a fondly remembered era, when the likes of Hugh Shannon, Bobby Short, and Buddy Barnes manned the keyboard. There is no cover charge

The Open mic night hosted by Sarah Rice & Craig Pomranz on Thursdays on the Upper West Side has changed it's shownight! BROADWAY SINGS AT THE WEST END will now be held every MONDAY night,at THE WEST END(955 West End Avenue, NYC - 212-531-4759) from 7:00 to 9:00 pm (signup after 6:30 pm). An open mic with multi-award winning hosts Sarah and Craig bring the ultimate New York experience to the Upper West Side with all kinds of talent singing all genres of music -Broadway, Pop, Jazz, Classical, all are welcomed. NYC: "METROSTAR" PICKS FINAL METROSTAR WINNER TONIGHT

Five finalists were selected to move on to the two-week finals of the 7th annual MetroStar Talent Challenge on Mondays, August 18th & 25th at 7:00 pm at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440 ). The five finalists are Joanna Morton Gary, Lindsey Holloway, Leah Jennings, David LaMarr and Kristoffer Lowe. The Top 5 are the last singers remaining from an initial pool of 48 when the 8-week competition began on July 7th. The competition offers a prize package including a fully produced Met Room major engagement and multi-track recording of the live show. During the final two weeks the finalists perform a mini set including patter, and are asked to redo one of the eight songs they've performed so far, incorporating jury feedback. The competition's permanent judges include Roy Sander (the chairman), Gretchen Reinhagen, and Joseph Macchia. Eric Michael Gillett is the contest's resident mentor, offering pointers to the performers to help them "up" their games. Tom Gamblin, returning for his fourth season, is the contest's host. MetroStar's resident music director is Tracy Stark. Visiting celebrity jurists for the finale will be Marieann Meringolo, Steve Ross, Carole Bufford and Stephen Sorokoff. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

Award Winning TV Personality, Comedian and one of the breakout stars of Bravo's new show "The People's Couch", Scott Nevin, returns to THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438) with his scandalous comedy romp "Scott Nevins Live!" on Monday, August 25th at 7:00 pm. The evening is jam packed with side splitting insider Hollywood gossip, never-before-heard outrageous tales of Scott's favorite Stars, hilarious personal anecdotes about his family and dating life, his stint as a Judge for the Miss Kentucky Pageant, plus Nevins' infamous show stopping celebrity vocal impressions. Avarice The Musical will be performed atTHE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE(61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438) on Sunday, August 24th at 9:30 pm. The cast of Avarice The Musical will be singing songs from their upcoming production. Music and Lyrics by J. William Bruce. Starring Tom Ashton, John Raymond Barker, Richard Binder, Lindsay Lavin, Kristin Piacentile, Leanne Surace, and Chadwick Vogel. There is a $10 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: NAMT SONGWRITER'S SPOTLIGHT AT 54 BELOW

Summer is winding down but things are heating up for NAMT's next Songwriter Spotlight at 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) on Monday, August 25th at 7:00 pm. The show will be featuring writers who rock! The concert will have music from: Joe Iconis (Bloodsong of Love- NAMT Fest '11), Kyle Jarrow (Hostage Song- NAMT Fest '09) and songs from LIZZIE (NAMT Fest '10) by Steven Cheslik-DeMeyer, Tim Maner and Alan Stevens Hewitt. Iconis and Jarrow will play songs from their NAMT Fest shows plus other projects, while team LIZZIE will give us a sampling of what happens when you tell the story of Lizzie Borden with just four girls and a rock and roll band. Performers include: Nick Blaemire (Dogfight, Godspell), Hanna Cheek (Hostage Song, Goodbar), Carrie Cimma (Drama Desk Nominee, Lizzie), Mary Kate Morrissey (Tamar of the River), Ryah Nixon (Fat Camp), Ciara Renee (Pippin, Big Fish), Paul Thureen (Hostage Song, The Debate Society), Lauren Worsham (Tony Nominee, Gentleman's Guide) with Kristin Piacentile and Jessi Suzuki from Sky Pony. NYC: BEN PLATT AT 54 BELOW

Ben Platt will perform at 54 BELOW(254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) on Monday, August 18th at 7:00 pm and Monday, August 25th at 9:30 pm and Monday, September 1st at 7:00 pm. Platt had the "Magic" in him onscreen as Benji Applebaum in Universal's smash hit Pitch Perfect, and he's currently starring on Broadway as Elder Cunningham in The Book of Mormon. Now, to celebrate finally making the move to NYC, Ben Platt comes to 54 Below to sing some of his favorites and share tales of Mormons, his fellow aca-people, and of course, his family of singing Jews. Expect everything from soul, to Pop and R&B to musical theatre and some special guests! There is a $40-$55 cover plus a $25 food/drink minimum.

NYC: PODCASTER JOEL B. NEW AT 54 BELOW

Joel B. New, host of "Something New," the mega popular podcast that dissects what it means to be a working, multifaceted artist in America, comes to54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) to wrap up the show's second season with a special live concert! The show is part of the club's Late Night series. Award-winning songwriter and host Joel B. New has invited some of his favorite guests to join him and share some of their stories, take a quiz or two (with audience prizes!), and bring his songs to life onstage. Featuring Drew Gasparini, Nikka Graff Lanzarone, Amy Jo Jackson, Bill Coyne, Avital Asuleen, Dan Radzikowski, David Hudson, Hansel Tan, Jenny Neale, Justin Daniel, Mariand Torres, Matthew-Lee Erlbach, Tiffan Borelli, and more! Joel B. New is the proud recipient of a 2008 American Theatre Wing Jonathan Larson Grant for his music and lyrics. NYC: DINE & DANCE WITH VINCE GIORDANO AND THE NIGHTHAWKS - NOW AT THE IGUANA

Vince Giordano & the Nighthawks are back - and now will play every Monday & Tuesday night from 8:00 to 11:00 pm at at IGUANA'S VIP LOUNGE (240 West 54th Street, NYC - 212-765-5454). Vince Giordano & the Nighthawks is an eleven-piece band playing music of the 1920s & 30s for your dining and dancing pleasure. In 1976 Vince Giordano & the Nighthawks (originally known as the New Orleans Nighthawks) was formed. A big-band historian and collector, Giordano has more than 60,000 scores in his collection. There is a $15 cover (at the door) plus a $15 food drink minimum.
