LONDON: WORBEY AND FARRELL AT THE CRAZY COQS
Following last year's total sell-out, Worbey and Farrell, the internationally acclaimed concert pianists with a wicked sense of humour, are back at THE CRAZY COQS AT BRASSERIE ZEDEL (20 Sherwood St, Piccadilly, London W1F 7ED - 020 7734 4888) on Tuesday through Saturday, July 22nd through 26th at 8:00 pm. They have achieved over a million hits on YouTube and entertained all over the globe with their barnstorming blend of sparky comedy and sensational piano-playing. Revolutionary in their treatment of the traditional piano duet, they push the boundaries of the instrument to illuminate music of every style - classical, popular and contemporary. Their instrument can imitate the tones of a Spanish guitar, resound with their very own Paganini Variations or pulsate with the passions of the masters of jazz. LONDON: IAN SHAW LATE NIGHT AT THE CRAZY COQS
Ian Shaw celebrates the great singer-songwriters from Leiber & Stoller, the Beatles, Carol King and Joni Mitchell to Elton John, David Bowie and Amy Winehouse at THE CRAZY COQS AT BRASSERIE ZEDEL (20 Sherwood St, Piccadilly, London W1F 7ED - 020 7734 4888 - ) on Friday, July 25th as part of the club's Late Night Jazz series. Described as one of the most distinctive, original and creative jazz singers on the scene, Shaw is also a talented pianist and songwriter. Twice voted 'Best Jazz Vocalist' at the BBC Jazz Awards, nominated for a JazzFM award and with more than a dozen albums to his name, he is much in demand as the featured soloist with big bands and orchestras both in the UK and internationally, as well as pairing with the likes of Guy Barker, Liane Carroll and Claire Martin. LONDON: JULIAN COSTELLO QUARTET AT THE PHEASANTRY
The Julian Costello Quartet will perform at THE PHEASANTRY (152-154 King's Road, London SW3 4UT - 08456 027 017 - ) on Friday, July 25th at 8:30 pm. The group plays contemporary music that incorporates a range of different grooves, moods and colours and its textures are both tuneful and melodic. Some of the tunes are really structured and scored while others are more free-flowing and left to chance. Playing tenor and soprano saxophones Julian sees the group as one that is left to improvise and jam and see what happens. Call for cover/minimum information.
