NYC: RUTH CARLIN AT LAURIE BEECHMAN: A LIGHT IN THE WINDOW

Singer/songwriter Ruth Carlin returns toTHE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909) on Saturday, May 17th at 7:30 pm and Thursday, June 12th at 7:00 pm. Her show, "A Light in the Window - Songs of Judy Collins." is an illuminating exploration of the eclectic repertoire of iconic folkie turned cabaret favorite, Judy Collins. The show will be directed by Scott Barnes, with accompaniment by Carlin's Musical Director, Paul Greenwood, on Piano, Dick Sarpola on bass and John Redsecker on drums. Ms. Carlin, a participant in the BMI Musical Theater Workshop as a lyricist, is a relative newcomer to cabaret who has been critically lauded for her previous shows at the Laurie Beechman (Moon Song) and appearances the Duplex and Danny's Skylight Room. The show includes music from Collins' magnificent 50-year career spanning the decades of the free-loving and turbulent '60s through her embracing of the Great American Songbook and musical theater to become a contemporary favorite at Cafe Carlyle, the creme de la creme of New York society cabaret. Songs by Joni Mitchell, Stephen Sondheim, Randy Newman, Kurt Weill and others, as well as rarely performed original compositions by Collins herself - including "Secret Gardens" and "Since You've Asked" - will reveal multiple facets of this musical legend. The show ' Here's To The Ladies' is an exploration of women's names in song. From Mick Jagger's Angie to Mel Torme's Lulu, Craig will take you on an exploration of women in song! NYC: NEXT SINGING EXPERIENCE WORKSHOP SHOWCASE AT STAGE 72

Linda Amiel Burns, the Director ofTHE SINGING EXPERIENCE , announces that the next workshop performance will be at STAGE 72(158 West 72nd Street, NYC - 212-315-3500) on Thursday, June 12th at 7:30 pm. The show "Magic Moments" features Georgia Buchanan, Andrew Comba, Bill Dyszel, Yinan Hu, Samantha Ivanova, Amador Juarez, Pearl Lerner Kane, Hannah Joy Kozlenko, Cat Leone, Lilllian Moss, Victor Saltiel, Bonnie Schneider, Monica Tarver, and Suzanne Zemke. NYC: BROADWAY SINGS AT THE WEST END - THURSDAYS

A New Open mic night has begun hosted by Sarah Rice & Craig Pomranz on the Upper West Side! BROADWAY SINGS AT THE WEST END will be held every Thursday night (it started on May 1st) at THE WEST END (955 West End Avenue, NYC - 212-531-4759) from 9:00 to 11:00 pm (signup after 8:30 pm). Matthew Martin Ward will be at the piano. An open mic with multi-award winning hosts Sarah and Craig bring the ultimate New York experience to the Upper West Side with all kinds of talent singing all genres of music -Broadway, Pop, Jazz, Classical, all are welcomed. There will be a drawing at the end of the evening to get to sing another song and get a free cover for the following week. There will also be a group sing of the Tonight Quintette from West Side Story. There is a $7 cover - no minimum.

NYC: THIS IS A LEGIT CABARET WITH MARY MALANEY

Mary Malaney brings her show This is a Legit Cabaret to THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438)on Thursday, June 12th at 9:30 pm. Growing up in soprano land, surrounded by opera and Rodgers and Hammerstein, Mary Malaney didn't know what belting was until she left home. In This is a Legit Cabaret she will perform a night of her inspirations, struggles, joys, laughs, and history as a legit soprano in a belter's world! There is a $12 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: TONY CORRAO AT THE METROPOLITAN ROOM

Tony Corrao and his band promise you a night of swingin jazz as he croons the music of the Great American song book at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Thursday, June 12th at 7:00 pm. Brooklyn born jazz singer Tony Corrao makes his triumphant return to the Metropolitan Room. His love of music is evident in the passion he delivers with each of his performances. His elegant sense of swing and style will transport you back to the era of high society and sophistication Tony has performed at a number of jazz venues in NYC/NJ/Philadelphia, private events and weddings. Tony will be joined by Michelle DellaFave, who became a familiar face to millions of television viewers in the late 1960s and early '70s, when at the age of 19, she was selected to be one of Dean Martin's Golddiggers on his weekly series and on The Golddiggers' own summer variety show. As part of The Golddiggers and Dingalings ensembles, Michelle also participated in two of Bob Hope's globe-spanning USO Christmas tours.
