Vince Scuderi and the Out of the Box Big Band will perform at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Tuesday, March 11th at 7:00 pm. Whatever happened to Big Band music after Glenn Miller? Vince Scuderi knows. His Out of the Box Big Band aims to introduce audiences to the big sounds of Oliver Nelson, Thad Jones and Sammy Nestico. While not completely avoiding the classics, (Charlie Barnett included), it's the more modern, sophisticated language that Vince and his band mates swing to. OOTBBB recorded their first demo cd at Nola Recording Studios in 2013. The demo is a sampler of their eclectic style. It includes Nelson's "Hoedown", a mesmerizing "James " by Pat Metheny and the fun and retro inspired "Mercy" by British recording artist, Duffy. Out of the Box Big Band consists of a rotating line-up of seasoned, professional and up and coming NY jazz talent. Their combined experience runs the gamut from Broadway to Buble. Vince's special guest on the 11th is critically acclaimed jazz singer, Martha Lorin. As heard on our stage last year, Martha is an exciting performer. She is the winner of a Back Stage Bistro Award for her NY appearances, a Billboard award winner for her work as a songwriter, and she received a special award for her work with the Milford Music Festival.
