He has also starred in "Whoop-de-doo", "I Will Come Back" and, most recently, "Norma Does Men". ERIC MICHAEL GILLETTE TO RECEIVE JEFF MATSON AWARD! CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE BIRTHDAY PARTY UPDATE

Ticket sales close soon for the 21st Birthday Party of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE on Wednesday, July 6th at 7:00 pm at THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC ). Tickets must be ordered & paid for online via PayPal. Cost is $21 for 2011-12 members of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE  and $31 for non-members.

This year's JEFF MATSON AWARD will be presented to Eric Michael Gillett as part of the event. The JEFF MATSON AWARD, presented annually by CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE was created to honor the memory of songwriter/ writer/ director/ producer/ graphic designer Jeff Matson, who passed away suddenly on April 2, 2005 from a rare blood disorder. He shared his talents with all who asked, and mentored many performers who have come to be major forces in the cabaret community including Annie Hughes, Richard Skipper, Quinn Lemley, Miles Phillips, Sue Matsuki (just to name a few). He also wrote - very briefly - as a reviewer for CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE.

In addition, CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE will be presenting a new annual award at this year's 21st BIRTHDAY PARTY - the first SPECIAL CONTRIBUTION TO CABARET award, the recipient to be announced at the party (see item in TOP STORIES section above.) We have one - and maybe two surprise performers that won't be revealed until the night of the show as well.

Other performers for the show in addition to Mr. Gillett, are DC Anderson, Raissa Katona Bennett, Baby Jane Dexter, Sammy Goldstein, Peggy Herman, Tanya Holt, Sue Matsuki, Karen Oberlin, Craig Pomranz and Marta Sanders. Kim Nalley brings her tribute show to Nina Simone to RRAZZ ROOM at THE HOTEL NIKKO (222 Mason Street, San Francisco, CA - 415-394-1189) for a five week residency opening on Tuesday, June 14th at 8:00 pm, and then running Wednesday through Sunday, June 15th through July 17th at 8:00 pm (7:00 pm on Sundays). Awarded as one of the "Most Influential African Americans in the Bay Area," Kim Nalley has also distinguished herself internationally with a beguiling combination of sass, soul and smarts. Will & Anthony Nunziata will be returning to the THE ROYAL ROOM at THE COLONY HOTEL(155 Hammond Avenue, Palm Beach, FL - 561-659-8100) for their third smash run in less than a year on Fridays & Saturdays, June 24th & 25th and July 1st & 2nd. The young actor/ singers (and identical twins) have traveled the country with their duo concert act, with recent guest artist appearances with the Cleveland Pops Orchestra, Colorado Symphony Orchestra, Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra, and at Feinstein's and Jazz at Lincoln Center's Rose Hall. The talented twins have caught the eye of conductors and concert halls around the country, performing Broadway tunes, classic standards, Italian arias, and contemporary music. Last year the brothers sang in the grand finale song "Sunday" at "Sondheim: The Birthday Concert!" at Avery Fisher Hall in NYC, a concert celebrating the music and 80th birthday of Stephen Sondheim and later aired on PBS. In 2011, they travel to perform in Florida (Palm Beach, Sarasota, Orlando), Wisconsin (Brookfield & Fond Du Lac), Singapore, Nebraska, Cape Cod, and return to Feinstein's for their third engagement July 19th through 23rd. NYC: SECOND OF TWO "PERFECT NIGHTS" WITH COURTNEY GRAVES

Courtney Graves makes his NYC cabaret debut at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on June 18th and returns with a different show on Thursday, June 30th at 7:00 pm. Courtney will be performing American Standards from the 1920's into the 21st Century, re-imagined with Brazilian rhythms and jazz styling on songs like "Too Close for Comfort", "Caramel", "Old Devil Moon", and "Mercy". He will be accompanied on the 30th by Alva Nelson. Both shows feature Sabastiao Apolinario on percussion, Dave Jackson on bass, and Doug Harris on sax & flute. Host of The Gardenia's Open Mike series on Tuesday nights, Keri Kelsey will perform in her own cabaret show on Thursday, June 30th at 9:00 pm at THE GARDENIA (7066 Santa Monica Boulevard, West Hollywood, CA - 323-467-7444 ). Keri comes from a background that includes a degree in Theater Arts, but in addition to roles in regional musical theater, her life experience includes having run away with The Big Apple Circus and its man on the flying trapeze to assume roles as clown, popcorn seller, juggler's assistant, and Ring Mistress. She has worked as a radio news reporter, a hostess for QVC, and as a literary agent, and has swung 35 feet in the air from a float in the Rose Bowl Parade. But after separating from Trapeze Man, she gravitated toward her first love, music, and with inspiration from Julie Wilson, Nancy Wilson, and Ann Hampton Calloway, she has performed in New York at Tavern On the Green and Danny's Skylight Lounge, in San Francisco at The Plush Room, and of course in Los Angeles at The Gardenia. MAC Award-winning vocalist and Broadway performer Eric Michael Gillett brings his acclaimed show "Cast of Thousands" featuring the music of Craig Carnelia, to THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909) for three performances: Wednesday, June 29th, and Mondays July 11th & 18th - all shows at 7:00 pm. Eric is considered by many to be the foremost interpreter of this Broadway and cabaret composer's intricate and moving portraits of contemporary life. Cast of Thousands weaves a rich tapestry of song, as Gillett enacts the lives of the thousands of people with whom we interact every day, but may never come to know. Now, 15 years after it was first performed, Gillett returns to the material that inspired his first songbook collaboration, in an evening that explores not only songs from the original production, but also new material written by Carnelia in the intervening years. The show incorporates songs from the acclaimed scores Is There Life After High School, Working and Three Postcards, as well as contemporary cabaret classics such as Flight and Life on Earth, and new material from Actor, Lawyer, Indian Chief. Eric Comstock and Barbara Fasano being their latest show SHINING HOUR: THE "GOOD MARRIAGE" OF ARLEN + MERCER to the THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909 - ) for one night only, on Tuesday, June 28th at 7:00 pm. Harold Arlen was the son of a cantor from Buffalo. Johnny Mercer was an Episcopalian prep-school boy from Savannah. Individually, both were successful Hollywood songwriters when they first collaborated, in 1941. Together, they seemed to bring out the very best in one another, and brought pop songwriting to an apex of craft and soul. They wrote their greatest score, and one of the richest scores in all musical theatre, exactly 65 years ago. Eric & Barbara celebrate ST. LOUIS WOMAN and other great songs by Arlen & Mercer. ERIC MICHAEL GILLETT TO RECEIVE 2011 JEFF MATSON AWARD

CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE is happy to announce that this year's JEFF MATSON AWARD will be presented to Eric Michael Gillett! The JEFF MATSON AWARD, presented annually by CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE at our birthday shows, was created to honor the memory of songwriter/ writer/ director/ producer/ graphic designer Jeff Matson, who passed away suddenly on April 2, 2005 from a rare blood disorder. He shared his talents with all who asked, and mentored many performers who have come to be major forces in the cabaret community including Annie Hughes, Richard Skipper, Quinn Lemley, Miles Phillips, Sue Matsuki (just to name a few). He also wrote - very briefly - as a reviewer for CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE.

We're also happy to note that the very first recipient of the JEFF MATSON AWARD - DC Anderson - is also one of the performers in this year's show.

Tickets are now on sale for the 21st BIRTHDAY PARTY of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE on July 6th at 7:00 pm at THE LAURIE BEECHMAN. Other performers for the show in addition to Mr. Gillett and Mr. Anderson, are Raissa Katona Bennett, Baby Jane Dexter, Sammy Goldstein, Peggy Herman, Tanya Holt, Sue Matsuki, Karen Oberlin, Craig Pomranz and Marta Sanders. Tracy Stark will serve as musical director. We have one - and maybe two surprise performers that won't be revealed until the night of the show. As with all live entertainment events, performers are subject to change without notice.

NYC: ERIC MICHAEL GILLETT: CAST OF THOUSANDS AT THE BEECHMAN

MAC Award-winning vocalist and Broadway performer Eric Michael Gillett brings his acclaimed show "Cast of Thousands" featuring the music of Craig Carnelia, to THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909)  Wednesday, June 29th at 7:00 pm. Eric is considered by many to be the foremost interpreter of this Broadway and cabaret composer's intricate and moving portraits of contemporary life. Cast of Thousands weaves a rich tapestry of song, as Gillett enacts the lives of the thousands of people with whom we interact every day, but may never come to know. Now, 15 years after it was first performed, Gillett returns to the material that inspired his first songbook collaboration, in an evening that explores not only songs from the original production, but also new material written by Carnelia in the intervening years. The show incorporates songs from the acclaimed scores Is There Life After High School, Working and Three Postcards, as well as contemporary cabaret classics such as Flight and Life on Earth, and new material from Actor, Lawyer, Indian Chief. There is a $20 cover plus a $15 food/drink minimum.

NYC: FREE OUTDOOR CONCERTS RETURN TO TUDOR CITY GREENS!

The new season of the Tudor City Greens FREE outdoor concert series resumes on Wednesday, June 22nd at 6:30 pm (Rain date: Thursday, June 23rd at 6:00 pm) at TUDOR CITY GREENS OARK (enter at Tudor City Place between East 42nd and East 43rd Streets). This event will feature professional performers from Broadway and the New York City cabaret and jazz scene, who all donate their time and talent to benefit the Parks. The concert will be hosted by Tudor City resident, Broadway and cabaret performer Raissa Katona Bennett (Phantom of the Opera, Chess). The guest stars on June 22nd include Australia's Variety Performer of the year Darren Williams; Broadway actor James Moye ("Million Dollar Quartet"); cabaret sensations Will and Anthony Nunziata; MAC and Bistro Award winner Marieann Meringolo; Barbara Porteus and Barry Levitt; Bistro Award winner Janice Hall, and Adam Shapiro ("Jewsical"). Also featured are the new series regulars – the MAC Award-winning guitarist and Windham Hill recording artist Sean Harkness, and the MAC & Bistro Award-winning big band innovator Terese Geneco. Serving as music directors are Kenneth Gartman, Doyle Newmyer and Bill Zeffiro.
