NYC: "BROADWAY'S NEXT H!T MUSICAL" AT THE TRIAD

On Thursday, February 10th at 9:00 pm, the MAC award-winning, "Broadway's Next H!T Musical" brings back the glitz and glam to the Upper West Side's THE TRIAD (158 West 72nd Street, NYC - 212-362-2590) with New York's only unscripted theatrical awards show. The show continues every Thursday through April 21st. Taking suggestions from the audience, the cast of Broadway's Next H!T Musical brings to life an actual mock awards show, complete with made-up show tunes and genuinely witty banter, followed by the a performance of the evening's "Phony" Award Winning musical. Here is how it works: (1) The first act is a fancy award ceremony, spotlighting four of the year's "Best Musical" nominees (made up on-the-spot, based on audience-created song titles.) (2) The second act is the entire "winning" musical based on the audience favorite nominee from act one. This unscripted, fully improvised award show extravaganza is hosted by Greg Triggs and features an amazing cast including Robert Z. Grant, Kobi Libii, Deb Rabbai, Stefan Schick, Rob Schiffmann, Rebecca Vigil with Eric March and Andrew Resnick on piano. Broadway's Next H!T Musical is presented by Strategic Entertainment NYC in association with Ralph Buckley. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

L.A.: TOM DiMENNA AS TELLY SAVALAS IN "WHO LOVES YOU, BABY?"

Tom DiMenna appears as Telly Savalas, in "Who Loves You, Baby?" at the THE GARDENIA (7066 Santa Monica Boulevard, West Hollywood, CA - 323-467-7444 ) on Wednesday & Thursday, February 16th & 17th at 9:00 pm. L.A.: RICK'S PICKS SPECIAL SALON SHOW FEBRUARY 19TH - Tribute to Hugh Martin

I don't usually include events held in private residences in the listings or on the website because there is always the question of rights and royalties, and I am a stickler when it comes to songwriters being paid for their works (same goes to photocopying or faxing sheet music, when legal copies are available). But I will make an exception today because the event is for a good cause (THE ACTORS FUND) and the person honored by the event is Rick Starr, former manager of Hollywood Sheet Music, and one of the most beloved members of the Los Angeles music community.

Rick is in increasingly declining health. He's been in the hospital for several months now, facing a series of surgeries and complications that have him basically bedridden. Ever the cheerleader of the world's great songwriters, Rick has maintained a commitment to supervise a Salon Event called "Rick's Picks: A Tribute to Hugh Martin". The event will take place on Saturday, February 19th at 5:00 pm at a private home in Studio City, CA.

A galaxy of Cabaret favorites will perform the Hugh Martin Songbook: Andrea Marcovicci, Jason Graae, Brad Ellis, Shelly Markham, Barbara Minkus, Shelly Goldstein, and Dianne Fraser are among the celebrated singers who will be sharing their talents, and their love, for both Mr. Martin and Mr. Starr. Esteemed New York Pianist, Arranger and Vocal Coach Michael Lavine serves as Musical Director, and acclaimed Cabaret Director Clifford Bell, in collaboration with Rick, directs.

$20 donation includes refreshments. Get the exact location and make reservations by calling 323-769-6447.
