HOTLINE MEMBER CABARET EVENT TONIGHT IN PALM SPRINGS, CA: SHIRLEY CLAIRE COMES TO ARTHUR NEWMAN THEATRE WITH "I'M GONNA LIVE TILL I DIE" - JULY 3rd
One of the Desert's best-known stars, Shirley Claire, brings her one-woman show to THE ARTHUR NEWMAN THEATRE at the JOSLYN CENTER (73-750 Catalina Way, Palm Desert, CA - TKTS: 760-325-2731) on Sunday, July 3rd at 2:00 pm as part of Les Michael's Sundays In Summer Cabaret Series. Joining Shirley Claire for "I'm Gonna Live Till I Die" will be Wayne Abravanel on piano. At only 87 years of age, Shirley Claire, who prefers to be called a 'Seasoned Citizen', has led a glamorous life in show-business from singing at the age of 10 and just 2 years later, her own radio show on CBS. Shirley was under contract with MGM for years before becoming a featured showgirl with Earl Carroll's musical comedy revues in Hollywood. She was a regular on The Jimmy Durante Show, and also did her own TV show that aired every Saturday night on KGO-TV in San Francisco. Ms. Claire made numerous tours entertaining the troupes for the USO as the singer with The Jack Ross Show and more theater and TV followed including a series on TV LAND. She has many fans from her years as a Fabulous Palm Springs Follies - Long Legged Lovely, and in 2015 Shirley was a hit on NBC's America's Got Talent. For "I'm Gonna Live Till I Die" Shirley enlisted the expertise of another Desert star, Derrik Lewis as her director, and Wayne Abravanel as her musical director. These days, Shirley is also holding court as the Singing Bingo Caller on Monday nights at Ace Hotel in Palm Springs. Tickets are $11 cash only at the box office that opens at 1:00 pm.
