HOTLINE MEMBER CABARET EVENT TONIGHT IN
NYC:
BARB JUNGR - SHELTER FROM THE STORM AT JOE'S PUB!

Barb Jungr: presents 'Shelter From the Storm', Songs of Hope for Troubled Times, featuring Laurence Hobgood on piano, at JOE'S PUB at THE PUBLIC THEATRE (425 Lafayette Street, NYC - 212-967-7555) on Fridays & Saturdays, May 13th & 14th and 20th & 21st, at 7:00 pm. They will be joined on stage by Wilson Torres on percussion and Matt Clohesy on bass. Jungr is delighted to return to Joe's Pub with a major new album and live project, which marks her return to Linn Records Jazz Roster. Released in February 2016 in the UK and April in the USA, Shelter From The Storm sees Barb, regarded as one of the finest interpreters of popular song, join hands across the Atlantic in a collaboration with Laurence Hobgood, the American progressive and contemporary jazz piano virtuoso. This exciting new album project was recorded at Sear Sound Studio NYC with Calum Malcolm at the controls and is co-produced by Calum, Laurence and Barb. This is Hobgood's first major collaboration since his work with Kurt Elling (with whom he won a Grammy for the album, Dedicated To You: Kurt Elling Sings the Music of Coltrane and Hartman). Shelter From The Storm includes three original songs by Barb and Laurence, alongside material by Dylan, Cohen, Mitchell, Springsteen, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Sondheim, Peter Gabriel and Bacharach and David. Barb is featured in an exciting new TV 6-part TV series; a collaboration between CPTV (Connecticut Public Television) and the Kate (the Katherine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center). The first series is scheduled for spring 2016 and each show will highlight the work of bold contemporary performers who break the barriers of their genres. As well as an interview, Barb's edition features the live concert of Shelter From the Storm recorded at the Kate last September. Her earlier Dylan collection, Barb Jungr Sings Bob Dylan: Every Grain of Sand (Linn Records 2002) is now regarded as a cult classic album. There is a $25 cover plus a $20 food/drink minimum.
