NYC: MADELAINE WARREN AT DON'T TELL MAMA
Madelaine Warren presents her show "Moving Forward by Looking Backward at the Great American Songbook" at DON'T TELL MAMA(343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788) on Sunday, May 1st at 3:00 pm. Following a career on the diverse stages of opera, resort hotels, luxury cruises, concerts, and worldwide corporate events, Madelaine Warren is now dedicating her talents to the cabaret stage. With expert guidance from director Barry Kleinbort, music director/arranger Christopher Denny, and Bob Renino on bass, Madelaine presents an exciting line-up of celebrated standards, during which Madelaine reflects on how she is finally ready to sing a Frank Sinatra song (and other amusing anecdotes). Songwriters represented include Arlen, Rodgers, Porter, Jobim, Mercer, Coleman, Comden and Green, Kern, Bernstein, Lennon and McCartney. There is a $15 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: MARY FOSTER CONKLIN HOSTS NEW FM RADIO SHOW SUNDAYS - ALSO ON THE WEB
Jazz/cabaret vocalist Mary Foster Conklin has announced her debut on WFDU 89.1 FM, hosting a weekly show every Sunday from 3:00 to 7:00 pm (Eastern Time), streaming on their HD2 channel, Jazz and What's More. The show began it's run on Sunday, March 5th. Yu can find it on the internet at http://www.wfdu.fm - and clicking on the "Listen to HD2" button. You'll be given a player for your device and will hear the channel instantly. There's also a free app you can download for both iPhone and Android. The program is called "A Broad Spectrum" and offers up an assortment of music by Women Who Inspire - Writers, Composers, Instrumentalists and Vocalists (there will be airplay of male artists too, in the Honorable Men-tion slot). NYC: SALON THIS SUNDAY! - THEME FOR THE EVENING: "COAST TO COAST"
SALON - that unique, multiple award winning, Weekly Open Mic Event, created and hosted by Mark Janas will return to ETCETERA ETCETERA(352 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-399-4141) on Sunday, May 1st, from 7:00-10:30 pm. (Sign-Up Begins at 6:15pm). The optional theme for the evening is "Coast to Coast". Remember, any material, on or off theme, is always welcome at Salon. Co-Host will be Lisa Viggiano! The Salon events are produced by Tanya Moberly. Salon is an ongoing open entertainment event in which singers, writers and musicians share their talent with each other and audience members. There are no reservations; seating is on a first come/ first served basis. All types of material, on or off theme are always welcome at Salon. They enthusiastically welcome instrumentalists, poets, playwrights, essayists, comics, illusionists and performance artists. Please limit your selections to three or four minutes in length (including introductions). Please also bring clear, complete charts for the accompanist to read. There is a $10 cash cover collected at the door and a $15 food/drink minimum (cash or credit) per person.

PALM SPRINGS, CA: THE SUNDAYS IN SUMMER CABARET SERIES OPENS WITH JIMMY VAN HEUSEN TRIBUTE MAY 1st
The Sundays In Summer Cabaret Series begins its 7th season on Sunday, May 1st at 2:00 pm with Internationally renowned singer Tish Oney, performing at the THE ARTHUR NEWMAN THEATRE at the JOSLYN CENTER (73-750 Catalina Way, Palm Desert, CA - TKTS: 760-325-2731). Ms. Oney, an acclaimed pianist, will accompany herself on the baby grand piano for her show "Going My Way - The Songs Of Jimmy Van Heusen". Her's will be the first of 29 different cabaret concerts to be presented in the series by producer Les Michaels through October 30th, 2016. "Going My Way" will feature songs and stories about composer Jimmy Van Heusen, who won an Emmy and four Oscars for Best Original Song with lyricists like Eddie DeLange, Sammy Cahn, and Johnny Burke. Of his 800 compositions, over 50 are considered Great American Songbook Standards. His songs are used in over 220 films including the "Road To" series made famous by Bob Hope and Bing Crosby. A few of his many hits are "Swinging On A Star", "All The Way", "High Hopes", "Call Me Irresponsible", "Darn That Dream", "Here's That Rainy Day", and "Come Fly With Me". Mr. Van Heusen was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1971. Tish Oney has a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from USC's Thornton School of Music. Besides solo performances, Tish tours the US as a guest performer with Symphony orchestras, and is a sought-after teacher of voice, piano, and performance technique. Tickets are $11 cash only at the box office, and doors open at 1:00 pm.
