BREAKING NEWS - MELBOURNE, AUS: ILANA CHARNELLE: A CLASS ACT - MAY 18th & 19th
MELBOURNE CABARET FRINGE FESTIVAL EVENT
Ilana Charnelle performs "A Class Cat" at THE BUTTERFLY CLUB (256 Collins Street, Melbourne, VIC, AUS - 03 96902000) on Saturday & Sunday, June 18th & 19th at 5:30 pm. The show is part of the inaugural MELBOURNE CABARET FRINGE FESTIVAL hosted at THE BUTTERFLY CLUB. Ilana comes to you straight from the heydays of traditional pop. Forget skinny jeans and autotune, her original songs - which have amassed over 233,000 YouTube views and received five star iTunes ratings - take you back to the days of love letters, slow dancing… and bootleg liquor. Influenced by legendary performers such as Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland and Ella Fitzgerald, Ilana Charnelle sings classic standards from the 1940s and 50s, then makes it personal by writing heartfelt, gut-wrenching songs inspired by those same crooners. Ilana has channelled Judy Garland and David Bowie for ACMI (Australian Centre for the Moving Image) and headlined variety acts at underground Melbourne institutions such as Burlesque Bar, Speakeasy and Red Bennies, but now she is thrilled to present her debut solo cabaret. Featuring magical original songs, Ilana Charnelle and musical director Ned Dixon invite you into a world of heartbreak, affirmation and empowerment. Call for reservations and cover/minimum information.
