HOTLINE MEMBER CABARET EVENT TONIGHT IN NYC: ALEX LEONARD SALUTES GENTLEMAN JOHN BUNCH, "THE FRED ASTAIRE OF THE PIANO"

Alex Leonard returns to THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) with "A Tribute to Gentleman John Bunch" on Wednesday, December 9th at 9:30 pm toTHE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440). He is joined by bassist Jay Leonhart and guitarist Al Gafa. This performance celebrates the life and career of John Bunch from his days growing up in the small farming community of Tipton, Indiana, his heroic service during WW ll to his day's of accompanying a who's who list of artists including Tony Bennett and Benny Goodman. Featured in the 25th Annual Cabaret Convention at Lincoln Center, Alex Leonard has performed in venues from Manhattan to Europe and Japan. A two time MAC Award nominee he has performed in the Cabaret Series at the National Arts Club hosted by Donald Smith. He has been a featured guest on many programs including Bloomberg Radio's The Business of Show Business. Virtuoso guitarist Al Gafa performed many years on the road with Dizzy Gillespie, Sammy Davis Jr., Sarah Vaughn, Johnny Hartman and musical director for Carmen McRae. He performed in the Playboy Club in the late 60's and has done studio work with everyone from the Monkees to Paul Simon and can be heard on the soundtrack album of the movie "The Bridges of Madison County". He recorded "Leblon Beach: The Al Gafa Quinteto" on the jazz label Pablo Records. A superior bassist Jay Leonhart has performed and recorded with notables such as Peggy Lee, Mel Torme, Tony Bennett, Carly Simon and Sting. Between 1975 and 1995 he was named The Most Valuable Bassist in the recording industry three times by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. Jay has recorded fifteen solo albums and is also performing a one-man show called "The Bass Lesson" about his life in the music business and song. He has toured worldwide for more than forty years. There is a $24 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
