Steven Chera's NEW SINGLE "My One and Only Love" is a ballad with an aria-like melody that's a challenge to most vocalists. It was originally recorded by Frank Sinatra on May 2, 1953. Steven Chera in 2015 (nearly 75 years later) puts a beautiful spin on it while he serenades you with his delightful vocal backed by The "One and Only" Bob Kaye Trio. RELEASED IN ALL ONLINE STORES ON NOVEMBER 10th, 2015. KT Sullivan and Jeff Harnar return to THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909) with a reprise of their original show 'Another Hundred People: Sullivan & Harnar Sing Sondheim: Act One' - which sold out every week this past summer, on Thursday, December 10th at 6:00 pm. Musical Director is Jon Weber and the show is directed by Sondra Lee. As two of the world's most acclaimed cabaret artists, KT Sullivan (Broadway: The Threepenny Opera, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes; Cabaret: Carnegie Hall, Town Hall, the Oak Room at the Algonquin, The Kennedy Center) and Jeff Harnar (Cabaret venues across the world including Carnegie Hall, and winner of the 2012 Noel Coward Foundation Cabaret Award) perform more Sondheim classics giving a new insight into the timeless music of Stephen Sondheim. NYC: LOVE, LUST & THE PRICE OF FREEDOM ON NEW BARBARA FASANO CD
Human Child Records and BIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080) present the release of Barbara Fasano's new CD "Busy Being Free," on Thursday, December 10th at 6:00 pm. The complexities of love and the circles we all swirl within are explored in the new CD. The album boasts a line-up of all-star jazzmen, led by pianist/ arranger John di Martino, known for his work with Grady Tate, Freddy Cole, Pat Martino and the late Ray Barretto. The 14 tracks run the gamut from well-known standards ("Surrey With The Fringe On Top", "Dancing In The Dark") to rarer tunes such as "Roundabout", "Remind Me" and "Photographs", a collaboration between composer Alec Wilder and Beat lyricist Fran Landesman. The CD's title comes from Joni Mitchell's "Cactus Tree", and the record takes a deep dive into a woman's point of view, with other female lyricists including Carolyn Leigh and Nellie Lutcher. In the years since their last CD collaboration, the award-winning Harold Arlen collection "Written In The Stars", Barbara & John have been refining their search for material for this new record. When the time came, John's arrangements were brought to life by the first-call jazz ensemble on the record: Boris Kozlov, Vince Cherico, Aaron Heick, Paul Meyers and the cornet star, Warren Vache. Barbara's unique approach to material ranging from Harold Arlen to Joni Mitchell has earned her three Backstage Bistro awards, and four MAC awards (Major Duo Artists with Eric Comstock). Fasano headlines at venues from Birdland and Jazz at Kitano to Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, and concert halls and jazz festivals across the country and in London. Harold Sanditen, jazz-cabaret singer and veteran theatre producer, is host of Open Mic Night at THE CRAZY COQS AT BRASSERIE ZEDEL (20 Sherwood St, Piccadilly, London W1F 7ED - 020 7734 4888) every Thursday at 10:30 pm, ably supported by regular musicians Michael Roulston on piano and Jonty Fisher on bass. It is always an entertaining evening full of fun and surprise. Aimed at both the jazz and theatrical communities, The Crazy Coqs Open Mic Night welcomes all singers, composers and musicians, up & coming and established, who want to do a turn, performing new material or old favourites.
