CABARET TONIGHT IN NYC: BOBBY WATSON & HORIZON AT DIZZY'S
Bobby Watson & Horizon (Bobby Watson, alto saxophone; Victor Lewis, drums; Terell Stafford, trumpet; Edward Simon, piano; and Essiet Essiet, bass) will perform at DIZZY'S CLUB AT JAZZ AT LINCOLN CENTER (33 West 60th Street, NYC - 212-258-9595) on Thursday through Sunday, December 12th through 15th with shows at 7:30 & 9:30 pm. Saxophonist Bobby Watson began his career with Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers, later becoming the musical director of the group. He founded Horizon in the early 1990s, building on Art Blakey's hard-bop sound and adding a modern twist. After an eight-year hiatus, the group reunited to produce 2004's Horizon Reassembled, and today the quintet has grown into an all-star ensemble, whose members have used their time to form new groups, play as leaders, and tour internationally. Boasting a collective sound that is both improvisational and expressive, Bobby Watson and Horizon reconnect at Dizzy's with a renewed sense of energy and commitment to their music. There is a $40-$45 cover.
