CABARET TONIGHT IN MARYLND: ARTIE SHAW ORCHESTRA & SWINGTOPIA AT BETHESDA BLUES & JAZZ
On Wednesday, December 11th at 6:30 pm, a jazz octet and an historic big band share the stage at BETHESDA BLUES & JAZZ SUPPER CLUB (7719 Wisconsin Avenue, Bethesda, MD - 240-330-4500 - ): Artie Shaw Orchestra & Swingtopia! Artie Shaw gave his blessing in the 1980s to an Artie Shaw Orchestra, led by Dick Johnson until his retirement in 2008. The baton has now been passed to clarinetist Matt Koza. Matt is proud to assume the position as the director of the Artie Shaw Orchestra, and he is honored to be the next to carry on Artie Shaw's legacy. Opening at 6:30 pm for the Artie Shaw Orchestra is Swingtopia, a talented octet that celebrates tunes from the swing era and beyond. The dance floor will be available for both acts, so dust off your dancing shoes, and don't miss this classic jazz double-header! Call for cover/minimum information.
