CELEBRATING MARCH IS CABARET MONTH
Liz Rubino and John Paul Boukis premier their new cabaret as SUAVE AND THE BONER for two performances on Friday, March 15th at THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438 ). Performances are at 7:00 & 9:30 pm. SUAVE AND THE BONER is a gender-bent, steampunk reinvention of the Victorian music hall tradition of double entendre songs. Mr. Boukis and writing partner Terry Waltz co-write original music for the show, inaugurating racy songs in a familiar vaudeville style, from "Look At The Size Of That Pickle" to "It's Getting Very Crowded In My Box (At The Opera)". Ms. Waltz is also the duo's pianist. She creates new arrangements of music hall and vaudeville classics with Mr. Boukis updating lyrics on antique gems like "Nobody Loves a Fairy When She's Forty" and "The Pheasant Plucker's Son". Liz Rubino stars as Lizzy Suave. A rising cabaret artist, Ms. Rubino is a New York-based stage performer and recording artist who has appeared at both the Duplex and Metropolitan Room. Her 2010 Duplex-debut show IF ONLY was conceived by Mr. Boukis. Mr. Boukis, appearing as Jack Boner, is an AEA stage performer and writer who met Ms. Rubino as Founder and Executive Director of Kalliope Stage in Cleveland, Ohio where the two performed together regularly. Their next collaboration is a song cycle of Alice in Wonderland-inspired music titled LOOKINGLASS GIRL. There is a $15 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
