NYC: JONATHAN WHITTON BRINGS THE FREE RESIDENCY TO DON'T TELL MAMA

NYC: JONATHAN WHITTON BRINGS THE FREE RESIDENCY TO DON'T TELL MAMA

Jonathan Whitton (Bistro & MAC Award Winner, HEDWIG & THE ANGRY INCH) returns to the solo concert stage with an intimate concert series, THE FREE RESIDENCY at DON'T TELL MAMA(343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788) on Monday, November 5th at 7:30 pm; and Tuesday, November 27th at 7:30 pm. Experimental musician and NYU Musical Theatre Writing Program Graduate Aaron Jones serves as Musical Director. Celebrated for headlining both the Highline Ballroom & BB King Blues Club as Hedwig in HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH, Jonathan Whitton follows up his award-winning 2007 NYC solo-concert debut in collaboration with indie- musician Aaron Jones. THE FREE RESIDENCY is a candid concert experiment that surveys the journey home by way of dreamscape, reality, and memory. Musical selections for THE FREE RESIDENCY include re-imagined takes on songs from an eclectic group of songwriters: Aimee Mann, Kate McGarrigle, Kylie Minogue, The Mountain Goats, The Shins, Nina Simone, & John Vanderslice, amongst others. Whitton has been seen in NYC productions of EVEN FOR ONE NIGHT (Dixon Place), THE DISNEY DIARIES (dir. Michele Pawk, Laurie Beechman), & THE YELLOW WOOD (dir. Brian Yorkey, New World Stages). Regionally, he has starred in productions of THE LAST FIVE YEARS, CABARET, and THE SANTALAND DIARIES. He has also been seen onstage in such NYC venues as Joe's Pub, 54 Below, Ars Nova, Highline Ballroom, The Laurie Beechman Theatre, and Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall. All performances are presented with no cover charge, and just a 2-drink minimum.

This show does not have a cover charge, but donations will be collected for the Ali Forney Center (http://www.aliforneycenter.org ), an organization that houses LGBT youth whose lives are in danger. The center has been destroyed following Hurricane Sandy (phone lines, computers, etc.).
