L.A.: KRITZERLAND: TAKE ME ALONG: THE SONGS OF BOB MERRILL
Kritzerland Upstairs at Sterling's presents "Broadway Bound - Unsung Songwriters" on Sunday, May 6th at 7:00 pm at STERLING'S AT THE FEDERAL (5303 Lankershim Boulevard, North Hollywood, CA - 818-754-8700), As always, the cast includes some of the best voices in town, including Melody Hollis (Broadway: Susan in Irving Berlin's White Christmas), Damon Kirsche (Musical Theatre West: Man of La Mancha; Cabrillo's Little Shop of Horrors); Jane Noseworthy (Carrie, Reprise's Carousel; Disney: The Princess and the Frog); Beth Malone (Broadway: Ring of Fire; off-Broadway: The Marvelous Wonderettes); John Massey (Dad, Happy Days; Dave, The Full Monty; Nicely-Nicely, Guys & Dolls) with Music Director: Tom Griep and special guest, Tony Award Winner Daisy Eagen. The show is kind of a put-together of Bruce Kimmel's Broadway Bound CD (New Writers for the Musical Theatre) mixed with some songs by composers and lyricists who, while having written shows that made it to Broadway, never quite got in the front rank of musical theatre writers. It's an evening of songs you probably haven't heard before, along with a couple of songs that actually became hits but were from unsuccessful shows. Cover charge is $28 with includes a $10 food/drink allowance. Reservations required.
