Listed as one of Cabaret Hotline favorites of 2011, SCENE OF THE CRIME is a clever and entertaining musical tribute to TV detective shows. The show boasts an eclectic array of songs by Irving Berlin, Frank Loesser, Lieber & Stoller, Mary Chapin Carpenter and Carole King with fabulous arrangements by Andrew Sotomayer and James Logan. Paul Chamlin provides the musical direction and Frank Calo opens the show a la Dragnet. It would be a crime to miss this show! MetroJam now now being held every first and third Tuesday of the month from 9:15 to 11:00 pm atDON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788). Jenna Esposito. Next show is on March 20th. Accompaniment is provided by the MetroJam house band: John DiPinto on piano, Ritt Henn on bass, and Bobby Sher on drums. Sparkles and homemade cookies are provided for all attendees at every MetroJam. Open-mic performers have a chance to perform with a full jazz band. If you're planning to perform, please arrive early to sign up and be sure to bring two copies of your music (up-tempos are recommended!). Tom Vaughn debuts at THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909 - ) on Tuesday, March 20th; Friday, March 30th; and Wednesday, April 11th, all shows at 7:00 pm. after debuting "Trail of Cheers" at the Metropolitan Room in January 2012. The evening features arrangements of standards and Broadway classics, folk-pop ballads and Tom's original music. Joining Tom is special guest, Broadway actress and MAC and Bistro Award winner, Raissa Katona Bennett. Musical Direction is by Jeff Cubeta. The band also features guitarist Chris Conly,Jacob Silver on bass and Mary Rodriguez on drums. Tom most recently portrayed the roles of "Sister Hubert" in NUNSENSE AMEN and "Miles Gloriosus" in A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM, produced by Fire Island Pines Arts Project. Additional regional credits include, Kiss me Kate, Rigoletto, and On the 20th Century. Tom's background vocals can also be heard on the Lucie Arnaz CD "Latin Roots" musically produced by Ron Abel and Lucie Arnaz. Bob Diamond returns to DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788 - ) to reprise his new show, "This Funny World", for two more performances: Thursday, March 22nd at 7:00 pm and Sunday, April 29th at 7:00 pm. Gretchen Reinhagendirects. At the piano will be Musical Director, David Jarvis. "This Funny World" explores Bob's sojourn with his love of the movies, music, the Met and more, featuring the Great American songs of this ever spinning, funny, funny world. The show includes a significant amount of new material for Diamond, including the wonderful title song, written by the great team of Rogers and Hart. Bob Diamond spent many years as a TV Director, directing "The Joe Franklin Show", and many others. Additionally, he served as Director of Supernumeraries and Children at the Metropolitan Opera. Hosted by: Sue Matsuki (Also doing stand up!) Featuring an ALL STAR Cast: Danny Leary, Tom Ragu, Nancy Redman, and Very Special Guest Star MR. Sidney Myer.
