A MARCH IS CABARET MONTH EVENT
Eric Michael Gillett's acclaimed show "Widescreen: Songs From & About the Movies" will be presented on Saturday night, March 12th, at 7:30 PM, at theROGER BERLIND THEATRE AT THE MCCARTER THEATRE CENTER (91 University Place Princeton, NJ - 609-258-278 - ). Eric is joined by Jaff Cubeta as musical director and Tom Hubbard on bass. Widescreen is for anyone who has ever stumbled into a darkened movie house to escape the tumult of every day life, a magical journey into the world of flickering light projected on a silver screen. WIDESCREEN uses the silver screen as a jumping off point, borrowing songs written specifically for motion pictures ("Theme from Valley of the Dolls," "Moon River," "What Are You Doing the Rest of Your Life?") and marrying them to music from theater ("If the World Were Like the Movies") and contemporary pop ("Widescreen," "Erroll Flynn") to explore the world of the movies and the fantasies, illusions, and lies that fill our lives. Also featured are "I See the Light," 2011 Academy Award nominated song from the motion picture TANGLED, and Craig Carnelia's ode to the joys of late-night channel surfing, "Old Movies." Tickets are $46.
