NYC: MARY FOSTER CONKLIN HOSTS NEW FM RADIO SHOW SUNDAYS - ALSO ON THE WEB

Jazz/cabaret vocalist Mary Foster Conklin has announced her debut on WFDU 89.1 FM, hosting a weekly show every Sunday from 3:00 to 7:00 pm (Eastern Time), streaming on their HD2 channel, Jazz and What's More. The show began it's run on Sunday, March 5th. Yu can find it on the internet at http://www.wfdu.fm - and clicking on the "Listen to HD2" button. You'll be given a player for your device and will hear the channel instantly. There's also a free app you can download for both iPhone and Android. The program is called "A Broad Spectrum" and offers up an assortment of music by Women Who Inspire - Writers, Composers, Instrumentalists and Vocalists (there will be airplay of male artists too, in the Honorable Men-tion slot). NYC: JAMIE DEROY & FRIENDS BRING BROADWAY TO BIRDLAND - SUNDAY, APRIL 17th
FEATURED CABARET BENEFIT EVENT
CABARET EVENT IN A JAZZ CLUB!

The Broadway at Birdland Concert Series welcomes Jamie deRoy & friends for a star-studded cabaret show, Sunday, April 17th at 6:00 pm at  BIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080). In addition to producing the show, Jamie deRoy, a three-time Tony Award recipient, will host. Jamie deRoy is a show business tour de force: an award-winning producer; cabaret, stage, film and TV performer; recording artist/ producer and humanitarian. She was recently honored by The Manhattan Association of Cabarets with a MAC award for her long-running shows that benefit her new signature program, THE ACTORS FUND: JAMIE DEROY & FRIENDS CABARET INITIATIVE, an endeavor that assists people in the cabaret industry with help for medical needs and concerns. Performers who light up the marquees of cabaret, theatre, music and comedy are scheduled to appear at her April 17th show. They include: Robert Creighton, star and creator of Cagney, the off-Broadway dramatic musical about Hollywood's legendary tough guy in tap shoes. David Friedman, award-winning film and theatre composer, songwriter, author, lyricist and conductor. Comedian Cory Kahaney, a grand finalist and runner-up on the first season of NBC's Last Comic Standing. Singer N'Kenge, whose talents encompass musical theatre, jazz, popular song and operatic repertory. Howard McGillin, the world's longest running Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera. Brad Oscar, star of Something Rotten! and The Producers. Composer, Book writer and Lyricist Barry Kleinbort directs the one-night-only event with musical direction by Ron Abel, the award-winning arranger, orchestrator and conductor. DeRoy's acclaimed cabaret series has been attracting New York audiences for the past 25-years and serves as the basis for her acclaimed cable television show that spotlights well-known entertainers and newcomers. In addition to the three Tony Awards, deRoy has won eight MAC Awards, four Back Stage Bistro Awards and 11 Telly Awards for her extensive work on stage and screen. She has appeared on stage with luminaries like Joan Rivers and has headlined at many New York nightclubs. DeRoy has produced nine CDs in the Jamie deRoy & friends series, all of which are available on Harbinger and PS Classics labels. Proceeds from the Birdland concert will benefit The Actors Fund: Jamie deRoy & friends Cabaret Initiative. There is a $35-$60 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.

NYC: SALON THIS SUNDAY! - THEME FOR THE EVENING: "YOU MUST BELIEVE IN SPRING - SONGS OF HOPE" - APRIL 17th

SALON - that unique, multiple award winning, Weekly Open Mic Event, created and hosted by Mark Janas will return to ETCETERA ETCETERA (352 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-399-4141) on Sunday, April 17th, from 7:00-10:30 pm. (Sign-Up Begins at 6:15pm) The optional theme for the evening is "You Must Believe in Spring - Songs of Hope". Remember, any material, on or off theme, is always welcome at Salon. Co-Host will be Sue Matsuki! The Salon events are produced by Tanya Moberly. Salon is an ongoing open entertainment event in which singers, writers and musicians share their talent with each other and audience members. There are no reservations; seating is on a first come/ first served basis. All types of material, on or off theme are always welcome at Salon. They enthusiastically welcome instrumentalists, poets, playwrights, essayists, comics, illusionists and performance artists. Please limit your selections to three or four minutes in length (including introductions). Please also bring clear, complete charts for the accompanist to read. There is a $10 cash cover collected at the door and a $15 food/drink minimum (cash or credit) per person.

NYC: CELIA BERK RELEASES MANHATTAN SERENADE - PERFORMANCES EVERY SUNDAY IN APRIL AT THE METROPOLITAN ROOM

Celebrating the release of her highly anticipated second album, Manhattan Serenade, muli-Award Winner Celia Berk returns to THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) every Sunday in April, 2016. Remaining performance dates and times are April 17th at 7:00 pm, and April 24th at 4:00 pm with a new show featuring songs from the album. It is directed by Jeff Harnar with musical direction by Alex Rybeck. The album, to be released on April 1st, follows Celia Berk's critically acclaimed debut You Can't Rush Spring. It is Co-Produced by Tony Award-winning sound designer Scott Lehrer and renowned arranger and musical director Alex Rybeck. Nominated for the 2015 LaMott/ Friedman Award for Best Recording, Celia Berk's debut album You Can't Rush Spring appeared on a number of Best of 2014 lists and has found a global audience, with airplay and sales extending across the US and into Europe, Japan, Australia and Canada. Celia has made memorable appearances at Jazz at Lincoln Center and The Town Hall as part of the Mabel Mercer Foundation's annual Cabaret Convention and will appear again in October 2016 in an evening devoted to Stephen Sondheim. There is a $24 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
