NYC: JAZZ LEGEND ANNIE ROSS TUESDAYS THE METROPOLITAN ROOM

Jazz legend Annie Ross continues her unprecedented, record-breaking, multi-year run at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440), every Tuesday night at 9:30 pm. Ms. Ross has been an abundant contributor to the art of jazz for over 50 years. Born in the UK, she has been a permanent resident of the USA for many years and a US citizen since 2001. Annie Ross is one of the pioneers of vocalese and the composer of "Twisted", one of the most well known examples of that art, as well as "Farmers Market", "Jackie" and many others. A founding member of Lambert, Hendricks and Ross, considered the greatest jazz vocal ensemble of all time, her influence is present in all subsequent practitioners of vocalese. "Twisted" has been recorded by a host of vocalists, including some not normally associated with jazz, including Joni Mitchell and Bette Midler. There is a $25 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: ANOTHER HUNDRED PEOPLE: SULLIVAN & HARNAR SING SONDHEIM: ACT TWO

KT Sullivan and Jeff Harnar return to THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909) on four Wednesdays in July with their new show 'Another Hundred People: Sullivan & Harnar Sing Sondheim: Act Two'. Performance dates are Tuesday through Friday, August 18th through 21st and Tuesdays, September 8th, 15th & 22nd; Monday, October 12th - all shows at 7:00 pm. Act Two is a companion piece to last summer's Act One "Our Time". Musical Director is Jon Weber and the show is directed by Sondra Lee. As two of the world's most acclaimed cabaret artists, KT Sullivan (Broadway: The Threepenny Opera, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes; Cabaret: Carnegie Hall, Town Hall, the Oak Room at the Algonquin, The Kennedy Center) and Jeff Harnar (Cabaret venues across the world including Carnegie Hall, and winner of the 2012 Noel Coward Foundation Cabaret Award) perform more Sondheim classics giving a new insight into the timeless music of Stephen Sondheim. There is a $30 cover plus a $20 food/drink minimum.

NYC: MAMA'S NEXT BIG ACT - NEW 12 WEEK CONTEST!

DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788) opened the first annual "Mama's Next BIG Act!" began on Tuesday, June 9th and continues every week at 9:30 pm. The contest will run for 12 consecutive weeks, every Tuesday through August 25th. The event is a bigger than average, 12-week competition that mixes styles and genres. Voted by the audience and a cavalcade of celebrity judges, the contest will invite solo, duo and group acts in the following categories: music, magic, drag, burlesque, and variety. Mama's Next BIG Act! is open to any musical act over the age of 18. Musical acts may consist of solo, duo or groups, and may be of any genre or style. Acts may use the club's pianist or bring their own. A guitar or bass may also be used. Tracks may be used, but live music is preferred. Vocal Groups, Drag Artists, Variety and Burlesque acts are encouraged to submit, as well as Solo and Duo Vocal Acts. The preliminary rounds are June 9th, June 16th, and June 23rd. Each week, contestants will be eliminated based on votes by the judges as well as the audience. There is a $12 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: RYAN SCOTT OLIVER & LINDSAY MENDEZ'S ACTOR THERAPY

Actor Therapy goes to 54 BELOW(254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551 - ) on Tuesday, August 18th at 9:30 pm. Hosted by award-winning composer-lyricist Ryan Scott Oliver (35mm, Darling) and Broadway actress Lindsay Mendez (Wicked, Dogfight, Godspell), Actor Therapy, is a series of masterclasses for performers looking to improve their auditions, build a better book, and expand their understanding of what it means to be an actor and song interpreter in New York today. There is a $10-$30 cover plus a $20 food/drink minimum.

NYC: SEE JANE SING! WITH JANE LYNCH AT JOE'S PUB

Fresh from her iconic portrayal of Sue Sylvester on "Glee" and her Broadway debut as Miss Hannigan in "Annie," Jane Lynch returns to New York City to perform her new musical comedy "See Jane Sing" at JOE'S PUB at THE PUBLIC THEATRE (425 Lafayette Street, NYC - 212-967-7555) on Sunday through Wednesday, August 16th through 19th - with 2 performances nightly at 7:00 & 9:30 pm. The show comes full circle for Jane as she debuted the act at 54 Below last year to rave reviews. Taking the stage at Joe's Pub for a four day run, Jane's show has evolved to include special guests like Kate Flannery of "The Office," who plays Jane's mischievous vocal partner, and Tim Davis, the talented former musical arranger on "Glee." The Emmy and Golden Globe winner also designed a fresh song list boasting delightful new takes on "If Wishes Were Rainbows", "Mr. Monotony", "Far From the Home I Love", and "Skeletons/Blood" from A Mighty Wind. Not your typical Broadway narrative, Lynch, accompanied by a five-piece band, builds the evening around her musical chops and comedic wit and charm. There is a $25=$75 cover.
