VENUE PROMOTED SHOW TONIGHT IN NYC: MARK NADLER - TSCHAIKOWSKY (AND OTHER RUSSIANS) - AS ADVERTISED BY THE METROPOLITAN ROOM

VENUE PROMOTED SHOW TONIGHT IN NYC: MARK NADLER - TSCHAIKOWSKY (AND OTHER RUSSIANS) - AS ADVERTISED BY THE METROPOLITAN ROOM

Mark Nadler brings his acclaimed show 'Tschaikowsky (And Other Russians)' to THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Wednesdat, August 26th at 9:30 pm. In January 2003, singer/ pianist Mark Nadler staged a show that took the New York and National cabaret worlds by storm. His unique and provocative idea: Take the song "Tschaikowsky (and Other Russians)," a list of 48 Russian and Polish composers which was assembled by Ira Gershwin, set to music by Kurt Weill, and first performed by Danny Kaye in the 1941 Broadway musical Lady in the Dark, and deconstruct it by revealing something about each of the 48 composers, playing bits of their music, and tying their lives to American popular song. The song made Danny Kaye a star overnight and has helped make Mark Nadler a cabaret legend. Nadler's Tschaikowsky (And Other Russians) is a madcap, richly layered, and ultimately deeply moving study on the nature of fame, which earned multiple awards and raves after it debuted in 2003. The show won a 2003 Bistro Award for "Raising Standards of Cabaret Performance," and received MAC and Nightlife Award Nominations for "Outstanding Performance in a Major Engagement." When Nadler performed the show on the West Coast in 2008, he earned the San Francisco Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle Award for "Outstanding Solo Performance." Now, Mark Nadler will be performing this iconic show once again to launch the new Metropolitan Room monthly series, New York Cabaret's Greatest Hits, produced by Stephen Hanks' Cabaret Life Productions. Nadler's decidedly Russian-themed show at the Metropolitan Room, hosted by Hanks, will be fittingly co-sponsored by Manhattan's Moscow 57 Restaurant (168 ½ Delancey Street), which is providing special pre-show delicacies. There is a $22.50 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
