FRAMINGHAM, MA: AMAZING THINGS OPEN MIC FEATURING KAREN MULVEY

Every second Wednesday of the month Leslie Holmes hosts an amazing Open Mic night at the AMAZING THINGS ARTS CENTER (160 Hollis Street, Framingham, MA - 508-405-2787), and each show features a special guest. On Wednesday, June 10th, the featured guest will be Karen Mulvey. Pianist for both Karen and the open mic is Tom LaMark. Since making her cabaret debut in the spring 2013 as part of BACA's CabaretFest, Karen Mulvey spent much of the following year performing as much as possible at area open mics. She sang solo sets at Amazing Things as part of a BACA showcase last winter and made several guest appearances at Nick's Cabaret in Worcester in 2014. Though classically trained, her true interest lies in show tunes, jazz and standards. Recently Karen has been expanding her repertoire to include a variety of styles from Broadway, to jazz, to rock and roll - and even a little country. ••This winter found Karen not only on stage, but also in the recording studio. She is working on her first solo CD in collaboration with music director, Tom LaMark, and many of the city's finest musicians. The project will feature songs from the American songbook as well as highlight a few of her favorite contemporary composers. The open-mic starts at 7:00 pm (signup at 6:30 pm), and the featured performers go on at 8:10 pm. There is an $10 cover charge ($9 cover for BACA members).
