The Kinsey Sicks, America's Favorite Dragapella Beautyshop Quartet, celebrate their 20th anniversary with their new over-the-top musical, "America's Next Top Bachelor Housewife Celebrity Hoarder Makeover Star Gone Wild" at MARTINI'S ABOVE FOURTH(3940 4th Avenue, San Diego, CA - 619-400-4500) on Thursday, June 11th at 8:00 pm. In this brilliant reality send-up, we find Rachel, Winnie, Trixie and Trampolina in the jungle, trying their best to score at challenges that involve singing, dancing, dating, dieting and, of course, large insects. There is a $20-$25 cover plus a $15 food/drink minimum.
LOS ANGELES: THE UNAUTHORIZED MUSICAL PARODY OF CRUEL INTENTIONS
Roger Kumble's relentless game of cat and mouse comes to life at the ROCKWELL: TABLE & STAGE (1714 Vermont Avenue, Los Angeles, CA - 323-669-1550) on Thursdays & Fridays in May at 8:00 pm in 'The Unauthorized Musical Parody of Cruel Intentions'. This cult classic tale of seduction and revenge follows despicable step-siblings Sebastian (Broadway's Constantine Rousouli) and Kathryn (Faking It's Katie Stevens) in their attempt to destroy their classmates (Molly McCook and Pitch Perfect's Shelley Regner.) LOS ANGELES, CA: MAUDE MAGGART AT THE GARDENIA
Maude Maggart brings her new show "Do Something" to THE GARDENIA(7066 Santa Monica Boulevard, West Hollywood, CA - 323-467-7444) on Thursday through Saturday, June 11th through 13th at 9:00 pm. "Do Something" is the fitting title of a recording by Helen Kane (the original Betty Boop,) whose legacy is featured in this show along with those of such luminaries from the 1920s as Helen Morgan, Ruth Etting, Libby Holman, Alberta Hunter, and Josephine Baker. She has been described as a "strikingly beautiful and poised performer," and has been widely praised for her vocal talent, her intelligent, emotional, witty interpretations, as well as for her taste in song selection primarily from the American popular song book featuring the works of Irving Berlin, George Gershwin, Jerome Kern, Harold Arlen, Johnny Mercer, Vernon Duke, and Rodgers and Hart. She has paid vocal tribute in her concerts to such popular singers and predecessors as Helen Morgan, Annette Hanshaw, Ruth Etting, Alice Faye, Helen Forrest and lryicist Marshall Barer. Her many concerts and cabaret appearances have featured established standards as well as exquisite renditions of songs by Jackson Browne and Joan Baez. Call for cover/minimum information.
