FRAMINGHAM, MA: AMAZING THINGS OPEN MIC FEATURING LOUISE VAN AARSEN

Every second Wednesday of the month Leslie Holmes hosts an amazing Open Mic night at the AMAZING THINGS ARTS CENTER (160 Hollis Street, Framingham, MA - 508-405-2787), and each show features a special guest. On Wednesday, May 13th, the featured guest will be Louise Van Aarsen. Pianist for both Louise and the open mic is Paul McWilliams. Louise Van Aarsen-Koopman, a Dutch native, has had a passion for music, vocal jazz in particular, since her teenage years. She moved to Boston with a Ph.D. in cancer biology to further novel cancer therapies. In parallel, she has never ceased to develop her talent as a singer through intensive vocal training and performances. Over the past few years, she has been writing her own melodies and lyrics; poignant stories and catchy compositions with a unique 'jazz standard-esque' flavor. In a wonderful collaboration with Ton Scheer, Doug Hammer and Rebecca Parris, this work has culminated in an impressive debut CD recorded with some of Boston's finest jazz musicians at Peter Kontrimas' PBS Studios! The open-mic starts at 7:00 pm (signup at 6:30 pm), and the featured performers go on at 8:10 pm. There is an $10 cover charge ($9 cover for BACA members).
