NYC: THIS WEEK AT MARK JANAS' SALON:"CONNECTION!"

SALON - that unique, Multiple Award Winning, Weekly Open Mic Event, created and hosted by Mark Janas continues at ETCETERA ETCETERA (352 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-399-4141) on Sundays from 7:00 to 10:30 pm (sign-up begins at 6:15 pm). Salon is an ongoing open entertainment event in which singers, writers and musicians share their talent with each other and audience members. The optional theme for Sunday evening April 26th is "Connection!". Co-Hosts will be Mark's Manhattan School of Music Students: Mike Anderson, Brittany Bellacosa, Martin Case, Ryan Casperson, Alexandra Clint, Kayla Fuentes, Stephanie Johnson, Vincent Law, Anna Mayo, Juan Melo, Nick Miller & Mattie Obregon! Remember, any material, on or off theme, is always welcome at Salon. There are no reservations; seating is on a first come/ first served basis, with one intermission. There is a $10 cash cover plus a $15 food/drink minimum.

NYC: MAR SALA - I AM THE FOREST AT THE METROPOLITAN ROOM

Brooklyn based Marta Hernandez, (aka Mar Sala) performs at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM(34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Sunday, April 26th at 4:00 pm. Marta is an international singer songwriter, a self taught musician from Seville, Spain. With the collaboration of many accomplished musicians from all over the world, she mixes Latin sounds such as Rumba Flamenca, Brazilian rhythms and Spanish Pop, with Swing and Rock. Marta's original compositions are a cross over between the Flamenco air of Seville and the eclectic sounds of New York City. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: BRENDA BRAXTON: ACT 2 ... NOW WHAT?

Tony Nominee Brenda Braxton will be taking the stage at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM(34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Sunday, April 26th at 7:00 pm. Brenda was last seen as Velma Kelly in Broadway's hit musical Chicago. Prior to that, she was featured on Broadway in the musical revue Smokey Joe's Cafe, a performance that earned her a 1995 Tony Award nomination, the NAACP Theater Award, the city of Chicago's Jefferson Award and a Grammy Award for Best Cast Album. She co-directed and co choreographed the acclaimed 2001 Actors' Fund Benefit Concert of Dreamgirls. Other Broadway credits include Jelly's Last Jam, Cats, Legs Diamond and the original production of Dreamgirls. She received the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. "Living the Dream" Award given by New York Gov. George Pataki and the Josephine Baker Award from the National Council of Negro Women for her work as founder of Leading Ladies Just for Teens, seminars geared to empowering teenage girls. In November 2006, she launched BBRAXTON; Exceptional Grooming for Exceptional Men, a men's grooming salon located in Harlem. The first salon of its kind, BBRAXTON offered men's grooming services for the discriminating customer. In 2009 Ms. Braxton was the only woman honored with the "Men of Style Award " presented by Gillette Fuzion and BBRAXTON salon hosted the Gillette Fuzion Tour in New York City for a second year. In realizing the importance of giving back, Ms Braxton founded a not -for-profit organization called, Leading Ladies Just for Teens (LLJFT), seminars geared toward empowering young girls to be the best they can be. Leading Ladies began in 1996 at the Virginia Theater with a series of seminars designed to encourage, challenge and inspire young girls to dream and set goals. For her work as founder of LLJFT Ms. Braxton has received the Dr. Martin Luther King "Living the Dream" award given by New York's Governor Pataki, the Josephine Baker Award from the National Council of Negro Women, and the Community Service award given by the National Association of Negro Business Women. NYC: MARIA ELENA INFANTINO: "FROM PIAF TO MAMBO"

Maria Elena Infantino presents her one woman show "From Piaf to Mambo", impersonating legendary french singer Edith Piaf, in occasion of the artist's upcoming 100th anniversary at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM(34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Sunday, April 26th at 9:30 pm. She will be inging hits in French and English that made Piaf famous around the world in the 50's! Famous repertoire includes "La vie En Rose" "No regrets ""Milord" and more recognizable tunes. In between songs there are also some spoken extracts, taken from what Edith Piaf said in her own show at the Carnegie Hall on January 13th 1957. In the show "From Piaf to Mambo", Maria Elena portrays the life, philosophy and songs that made Edith Piaf the Icon of French Music, of whom 2015 marks her 100th birthday. Then, when you least expect it, Maria Elena , transforms into the Mambo Italiano section of the show, taking her audience on a journey all over Italy with the passionate 50's 60's Italian repertoire, starting with Mambo Italiano, Volare, and most 50's Italian hits that were sung in english too! There is a $222.50 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: WOODY REGAN & ANN MCCORMACK AT MAMA'S

Woody Regan & Ann McCormack perform at DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788 - ) on Sunday, April 26th at 4:00 pm. Woody Regan feels his proudest achievement was writing the score for Sam Shepard's WHEN THE WORLD WAS GREEN, presented to comemorate the the 100 Anniversary of the Moscow Art Theatre. A regular on the Cabaret Circuit, he has performed at Don't Tell Mama since its inception in 1982, and has been "packing them in" in his monthly show 'Groovin' on a Sunday' there for a year. This month he and Ann McCormack will celebrate the work of women writers of song and story. The set spans several generations of women writers from Peggy Lee and Carolyn Leigh to Grace Slick, Chrissie Hynde and Des'ree. Kim Sutton, Michele Herman, Rian Keating, Clare Cooper, Jonathan Kuhn, Jason Ellis and Evelyn Sullivan will join them. There is a $10 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: 3 VOICES THEATER PRESENTS TASTY BITCH, TRIBUTE TO A FOOD DADDY

The company members of 3 Voices Theater celebrate the love, light, laughter and joy of Cas Marino at THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438) on Sunday, April 26th at 4:00 pm. Cas Marino was a dear friend and collaborator of the 3V Family, as well as the Off and Off-Off Broadway community. NYC: ALL IN LOVE - CALVIN M. THOMPSON

Calvin M. Thompson once again delivers another evening of intimate love songs at THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438)on Sunday, April 26th at 7:00 pm. Ranging from smooth jazz, soul, and r&b; this collection of songs are dedicated to an evening of love. Under the musical direction of pianist Etsuko Tajima, this is "All In Love". Nicole Parker takes the role of Jillane Jenkins in Suitcase Full of Lies! at THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909)on Sunday, April 26th at 7:00 pm. Jillane Jenkins is a fictitious character portrayed by Nicole Parker in a leotard. Best known for her work as lovable secretary Callie Carter from the hit 1970's sitcom, She's Got a Job!, Ms. Jenkins brings you her life story in song and style! Called a tour de force by her fourth husband, Suitcase takes you from the heights of Jillane's fame, to the lows of her painful struggle with her father's eczema. NYC: LINDA MILLER'S LEGENDARY LADIES OF MUSIC

Linda Miller, singer/ actor /comic /impersonator returns to STAGE 72 (158 West 72nd Street, NYC - 212-362-2590) on Sundays, April 5th, 19th & 26th at 4:00 pm with her show 'Legendary Ladies of Music'. Linda will take you on a journey celebrating and honoring six wonderful musical ladies of history and now including Diana Ross, Celia Cruz, Ella Fitzgerald, Moms Mabley, Tina Turner & Jessye Norman. She is known as an established actor with several appearances on Law & Order, As the World Turns, Hope & Faith and recently playing Ronni Spector with Al Pacino in David Mamets HBO Film "Spector". She has performed for three United States Presidents, played in theaters in over 10 countries and with repeat performances at New York's Rainbow Room dazzling audiences everywhere she goes with her amazing vocal and physical versatility. The show features some of Broadway and cabaret's most dynamic voices, accompanied by piano only. NYC: LESLI MARGHERITA: ALL HAIL THE QUEEN!

Olivier Award winner Lesli Margherita (Matilda, Zorro) takes the "reigns" from the likes of Bette Midler and Liza Minnelli in her show All Hail the Queen at 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) on Sunday, April 26th at 9:30 pm. An evening of sheer entertainment, All Hail the Queen is totally more than a cabaret. It's a Vegas-style nightclub act. Commanding the room with sass and bawdiness - plus some self-deprecating humor for good measure - Miss Margherita sings and struts her way through the 70-minute set, which includes twists on old songs and new favorites (courtesy of musical director/arranger Brett Ryback). With hilarious storytelling and showstopping numbers, the evening offers something for everyone. There will be feathers. There will be sparkles. And you better believe there will be worshipping. NYC: MARCELLE DAVIES-LASHLEY & VICKIE RANDLE AT JOE'S PUB

Marcelle Davies-Lashley & Vickie Randle perform at JOE'S PUB at THE PUBLIC THEATRE (425 Lafayette Street, NYC - 212-967-7555) on Sunday, April 26th at 9:30 pm. Marcelle Davies-Lashley, Brooklyn native and baby of seven children born to West African parents from Liberia and Sierra Leone respectively is a psalmist extraordinaire. She began singing in the church choir at the age of 5 and never stopped. The sultry sound of the warm musical instrument of her voice will melt your heart and feed your soul. Marcelle has travelled to six of seven continents soothing and exciting the world in melody and song with a stage presence and sincerity that is second to none. She toured Turkey with Craig Harris and the Nation of Imagination. Marcelle played the role of the Queen of Sheba in the national and international tour of Robert Wilson's opera The Temptation of Saint Anthony by Gustave Flaubert with the amazing libretto written by Dr. Bernice Johnson Reagon. Marcelle is featured as a percussionist with the hypnotizing skills of her tambourine on Toshi Reagon's Have You Heard and on Carl Hancock Rux's Cornbread, Cognac and Collard Green Revolution as a featured vocalist. Vicki Randle was born into musical legacy that passed from her grandfather, a blues guitar player, to her father, a jazz pianist, to her. In fact her mother's baby shower took place at the club where her father was accompanying Billie Holiday, in Oakland in the 1950's. When she was 9, she found a discarded Silvertone guitar and taught herself to play Beatles songs, singing all the harmonies and other instrument parts. Becoming a multi-faceted, multi-talented, multi-genre, multi-instrumentalist, singer, guitarist, bass player, drummer became her passion and the result is a 40 year long career playing with the biggest names in music. Lead singer and percussionist with The Tonight Show Band with Jay Leno led, first by Branford Marsalis, then, by Kevin Eubanks for 18 years, Vicki performed with numerous guest acts, including Sir Elton John, Al Green, Garth Brooks and Sir Paul McCartney. NYC: VICTORIA SHAW "UNDER THE COVERS" WITH ROBIN MEADE & CONSTANTINE MAROULIS

The Broadway at Birdland concert series presents the return of singer/ songwriter Victoria Shaw in "UnderThe Covers." The one-night-only event will take place on Sunday, April 26th at 6:00 pm at BIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080). Hosted by award winning songwriter Victoria Shaw, Under The Covers has become a favorite recurring highlight at Birdland, featuring a wide variety of top-selling songwriters and musical acts from across the pop, rock and country worlds, and offering intimate acoustic performances of huge hit songs - along with the little-known stories behind them. Victoria's special guest will be Robin Meade, lead news anchor for HLN's morning show "Morning Express" with Robin Meade. Meade released a country musicalbum titled "Brand New Day" in 2011. Victoria Shaw is a pop/countrysongwriter responsible for over 65 million cd sales! As a singer, she had the great opportunity to open for Garth Brooks in the historic 1997 Central Park concert. Victoria also wrote one of Garth's biggest hits of all-time, "The River." The two-time Emmy Award-winning composer also wrote "I Love The Way You Love Me" for John Michael Montgomery and "Nobody Wants To Be Lonely" for Ricky Martin and Christina Aguilera. Her songs have been recorded by Olivia Newton John, Boyzone, Faith Hill, LeAnn Rimes, Reba McEntyre, Tricia Yearwood, Billy Ray Cyrus, and Michael McDonald. She co-produced the debut cd for Lady Antebellum, which went double platimum, thanks to three hit singles, and was nominated for two Grammy Awards.
