BOSTON: ANDY MCKEE AT THE REGATTABAR
Andy McKee will perform at THE REGATTABAR at the Charles Hotel(1 Bennett Street, Cambridge, MA - 617-395-7757) on Wednesday, October 15th at 7:30 & 10:00 pm. McKee is among the world's finest acoustic guitarists, and his crossover success to millions upon millions of YouTube viewers underscores his emergence as one of today's most unique and influential artists. To fans of virtuoso musicianship it is Andy's attention to song structure and melodic content that elevates him above the rest. To fans of popular music Andy entertains both the eye and the ear as he magically transforms the steel string guitar into a full orchestra via his use of altered tunings, tapping, partial capos, percussive hits and a signature two-handed technique. Andy launched a record label titled Mythmaker Records in 2014 whose focus is on gathering and developing the world's most creative and unique musicians in one place. There is a $28 cover.
BOSTON: LEE RITENOUR AT SCULLERS
Lee Ritenour will perform at SCULLERS JAZZ CLUB (400 Soldiers Field Road, Allston, MA - 617-562-4111) on Wednesday, October 15th with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. Grammy Award winner Lee Ritenour grew up in Los Angeles in the sixties where he received a rich cross section of exposure to jazz, rock and Brazilian music. He's been awarded a Grammy and has 17 Grammynominations along with numerous #1 spots in guitar polls and the prestigious "Alumnus of the Year" award from USC. Dinner/Show: $78 Show only: $38.
TORONTO: THE RUBEL BROS PRESENT JAZZ & COMEDY NIGHT
The Rubel Bros. Present: Jazz and Comedy Night at THE JAZZ BISTRO(251 Victoria Street, Toronto, ONT, CA - 416 - 363 - 5299) on Wednesday, October 15th at 8:00 pm. It will be a night of Classic Jazz and Classic Comedy hosted by the David Rubel Quartet and Matt Rubel. In their first collaborative effort, David and Matt bring the Jazz and Laughs to the Jazz Bistro for one night only, featuring Live Jazz, Stand Up Comedy and Storytelling. Toronto - born Jazz saxophonist David Rubel is an alumnus of both the Humber College Contemporary Music Program and the University of Toronto Jazz Studies Program. David can be heard as a soloist and sideman on numerous Canadian recordings, and has also appeared in various short films and web series. David is thrilled to have released Into The Dark, his debut CD as a leader, for which he has been awarded Grants from The Ontario Arts Council and The Canadian Music Fund (FACTOR). Stay tuned for his 2nd CD, which will be recorded Live at the Jazz Bistro in March 2015. Matt Rubel is a Toronto - based writer, producer and comedian. He is a regular performer on Paul Belini's "Liar Liar" storytelling show and hosts his own live variety show "Serious Business with Matt Rubel" monthly at the Flying Beaver Pubaret. Also appearing on stage: Winston Matsushita - Piano, Malcolm Connor - Bass, Robin Claxton - Drums, Zabrina Chevannes - Comedian and Ernie Vicente - Comedian. There is a $15 cover.
