SAN DIEGO: COMEDIAN JASON STUART IN "I'M NOT DEAD YET"

Comedian Jason Stuart brings his show "I'm Not Dead Yet" to MARTINI'S ABOVE FOURTH (3940 4th Avenue, San Diego, CA - 619-400-4500 - ) on Thursday, October 16th at 8:00 pm. Jason Stuart's name comes to mind when you think of one of the most prolific character actors, who's also an outrageous stand-up comedian. Stuart has been making people laugh out loud with his hysterical performances all over the country since coming out in 1993. He has accomplished what few other gay comics have ever achieved: brutal honesty with humor in a world that's not always kind. Not only is Stuart an all-out crowd pleaser, but he transcends the boundaries of race, gender and sexual orientation with his edgy comedic style. Stuart's material about his experiences as a single man living in Hollywood is original, cutting edge and just plain funny. There is a $15-$20 cover plus a $15 food/drink minimum. 

SAN FRANCISCO: SINGER, PIANIST AND SONGWRITER TONY DESARE AT FEINSTEIN'S

Singer, pianist and songwriter Tony DeSare returns to FEINSTEIN'S AT THE NIKKO (222 Mason Street, San Francisco, CA - 866-663-1063 - ) with his brand new show, Night Life, for two performances only: Thursday, October 16th at 8:00 pm and Friday, October 17th at 8:00 pm. Tony DeSare's new show will explore some of the most hauntingly beautiful and memorable melodies ever written, both old and new, plus a few new DeSare originals. From Cole Porter and Duke Ellington to Bob Dylan, Paul Simon and Willie Nelson, the only requirement is a sophisticated, romantic and swinging melody. Add in a martini or two and you have the quintessential night out on the town. There is a $40-$55 cover plus a $20 food/drink minimum.

SAN FRANCISCO: THE GREG OSBY 4 AT YOSHI'S

The Greg Osby 4 (Greg Osby - Saxophone, Adam Arruda - Drums, Martin Nevin - bass,and Simona Premazzi - Piano) will perform at YOSHI'S (1330 Fillmore Street, San Francisco, CA - 415-655-5600) on Thursday, October 16th at 8:00 pm. Saxophonist, composer, producer and educator Greg Osby has made an indelible mark on contemporary jazz as a leader of his own ensembles and as a guest artist with other acclaimed jazz groups for the past 20 years. Highly regarded for his insightful and innovative approach to composition and performance, Osby is a shining beacon among the current generation of jazz musicians. He has earned numerous awards and critical acclaim for his recorded works and passionate live performances. Upon relocating to New York in early 1983, Osby quickly established himself as a notable and in demand sideman for artists as varied as Herbie Hancock, Dizzy Gillespie, Jack DeJohnette, Andrew Hill, Muhal Richard Abrams, Jim Hall and Jaki Byard as well as with many ethnic and new music ensembles in the New York area. There is a $24 cover. 

SAN FRANCISCO: DJ QBERT AT YOSHI'S

DJ QBert, born Richard Quitevis, will perform at YOSHI'S (1330 Fillmore Street, San Francisco, CA - 415-655-5600) on Thursday, October 16th at 10:30 pm. DJ QBert is widely regarded as the most highly skilled skratching dj that has walked this planet. His long-standing career of innovating the DJ culture has set off a worldwide generation of DJs who are now regarded as musicians and not just DJs that play records, from A - Trak to Craze to C2C to Z - Trip; they would testify to DJ QBert's influence in their sound and successful careers. Hailed as the ambassador of skratching for today and to the future, he has been recognized by his peers as innovating more styles and systems of skratching. He comes from the era of experimental battle DJs who in the mid-90s gave shape to the infinite sounds of 2 turntables and skratching vinyl. There is a $25 cover.
