NYC: LINDSAY MENDEZ & MARCO PAGUIA AT BIRDLAND

Lindsay Mendez & Marco Paguia will perform at BIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080) on Monday, July 28th with shows at 8:30 & 11:00 pm as part of the Broadway at Birdland Series. Lindsay Mendez and MarcoPaguia met in 2010, and discovered a mutual love and passion for jazz. Lindsay and Marco draw from an eclectic mi xof music, reimagining songs from popular music in the familiar setting of a jazz piano trio and vocalist. Their vast catalog is comprised of the singers and songwriters that inspire them, including Alexi Murdoch, Alicia Keys, The Beatles, Feist, Fiona Apple, Gladys Knight, Janis Joplin, Jeff Buckley, Joni Mitchell, Lenny Kravitz, Macy Gray, Martin Sexton, Peter Gabriel, Pink Floyd, The Police, Stevie Wonder, and U2. Lindsay Mendez is a singer and actor, seen and heard both on Broadway and in the popular music world. She was seen starring as Elphaba in Broadway company of Wicked, and in the revival of Godspell at the Circle in the Square Theater. She was also featured in the Tony-nominated Broadway production of Everyday Rapture, starring Sherie Rene Scott. Marco Paguia is an accomplished Musician and Composer sought after for his proven versatility across many styles of music. Marco's experience as a composer includes the "Best Play" and "Fringe First" award-winning How to Act Around Cops(New York and Edinburgh Fringe Festivals). A successful and recognized pianist as well, Marco released "Small Hours,"the debut album with his jazz trio. Marco was a two-time finalist for the American Pianists' Association Cole Porter Fellowship. There is a $25 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.

NYC: JIM CARUSO'S "CAST PARTY" MONDAYS AT BIRDLANDFEATURED OPEN MIC EVENT

Every Monday night at 9:30 pm, Broadway impresario Jim Caruso hosts "Cast Party", a combination open-mic, networking event and party atBIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080) during which the biggest stars on Broadway relax on their night off by performing their favorite songs in an informal setting. Cast Party is a mix of music, impromptu performance and cocktail party revelry, where showbiz superstars, stunning jazz talents and cabaret glitterati hit the stage alongside up-and-comers to serve up jaw-dropping music and general razzle-dazzle. It's the ultimate spot to mix and mingle with talented show folk and their fans. There is a $20 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.

NYC: HARVEY MASON CHAMELEON AT THE BLUE NOTE

Drummer Harvey Mason Chameleon will perform atTHE BLUE NOTE (131 West 3rd Street, NYC - 212-475-8592) on Monday through Wednesday, July 28th through 30th with shows at 8:00 & 10:30 pm. He is joined by Special Guest: Chris Turner on vocals, Yuki Hirano on Keyboards, Samora Pinderhughes on Keyboards/ Organ, Burniss Earl Travis on Bass and Kamasi Washington on Saxophone. Masterful Harvey Mason more than just a drummer. His precision time keeping and versatility have placed him among THE most in-demand and most recorded session drummers of all-time. His tumbling tom-tom fills and the lickity slick synchronization between his hi-hat cymbals, snare and bass drums are instantly recognizable signatures. He's been hired by everyone from Barbra Streisand to James Brown to Mary J to Herbie Hancock to Jennifer Hudson to Frank Sinatra to John Legend to the London Symphony Orchestra. He has won four 1st place plaques from Modern Drummer magazine's annual studio poll and has been the first call drummer for the Academy Awards ceremonies on 25 occasions. He's also composed and written songs recorded by artists ranging from Nancy Wilson , Mary J. Blige, Notorius Big and T.I. There is a $20-$35 cover.

NYC: YOTAM SILBERSTEIN QUARTET AT DIZZY'S

Tel-Aviv-born guitarist Yotam Silberstein will perform atDIZZY'S CLUB AT JAZZ AT LINCOLN CENTER (33 West 60th Street, NYC - 212-258-9595) on Monday, July 28th with shows at 7:30 & 9:30 pm. He is joined by Obed Calvaire, drums; Yasushi Nakamura, bass; and Glenn Zaleski, piano. Yotam had already won the coveted "Israeli Jazz Player of The Year" title at the age of 21. Soon after, he performed at Italy's renowned Umbria Jazz Festival, released a critically acclaimed debut album, and set out on an extensive tour of Europe and the Middle East. Upon receiving a scholarship to attend The New School in 2005, Silberstein moved to New York City and has since performed with such luminaries as James Moody, The Heath Brothers, and Paquito D'Rivera. There is a $30 cover.
