TODAY'S CABARET PICK - NYC: ELAINE STRITCH DISCUSSES NEW FILM AND CAREER AT 92Y

Stage and screen legend Elaine Stritch moved back to Michigan a year ago, but on Monday, FebRUARY 17th at 7:00 pm she returns to New York for a rare public talk at 92nd STREET Y (1395 Lexington Avenue, NYC - 212-415-5500). Stritch will discuss her extraordinary life and career with director Chiemi Karasawa, whose new film Elaine Stritch: Shoot Me, features the uncompromising Tony and Emmy Award-winner. The event includes clips from the new film, which features Stritch on and off stage via archival footage and intimate cinema verite, candid reflections that are punctuated with photographs from Stritch's personal collection, and words from friends, including Alec Baldwin, Hal Prince, George C. Wolfe, Nathan Lane, Cherry Jones, Tina Fey, James Gandolfini and John Turturro. A Broadway icon, Ms. Stritch has delivered fabled performances in plays by Edward Albee (Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf, A Delicate Balance), William Inge (Bus Stop), and Tennessee Williams (Small Craft Warnings), and in musicals such as Pal Joey and Stephen Sondheim's Company, in which she created the role of Joanne and introduced what would become her signature song, the show stopping "The Ladies Who Lunch." Chiemi Karasawa is an award-winning Director/Producer who founded Isotope Films in 2005 to develop and produce content based on character-driven true stories. Her directorial debut Elaine Stritch: Shoot Me will be released theatrically by IFC/Sundance Selects in 2014. Tickets from $29.
