King, the Kronos Quartet, Dexter Gordon, Wes Montgomery, and Bobby Timmons. Carter has lectured, conducted, and performed at clinics and master classes, instructing jazz ensembles and teaching the business of music at numerous universities. NYC: DANNY SERAPHINE'S CTA, FEATURING BILL CHAMPLIN & LARRY BRAGGS

Pioneering jazz-rock drummer and composer Danny Seraphine will perform at THE IRIDIUM JAZZ CLUB (1650 Broadway, NYC - 212-582-2121) on Thursday through Sunday, February 6th through 9th with shows at 8:30 & 10:30 pm. In 1990, after 23 years in the group, Seraphine and Chicago had a jarring parting of ways, and he left music behind for 15 years. But a call to play a benefit show for a fellow drummer pulled him out of seclusion and sparked a creative rebirth. Today, Seraphine looks forward with Sacred Ground (Street Sense), the sophomore record from his jazz-rock powerhouse group CTA - often described as "Chicago on steroids" - and he makes peace with his past with the refreshingly candid memoir Street Player: My Chicago Story (Wiley). There is a $40-$70 cover plus a $15 food/drink minimum.

Terry Gibbs' career included tours and performances with leaders like Buddy Rich, Woody Herman, Benny Goodman, Max Roach, Dizzy Gillespie, and Tito Puente, to name a select few. In addition to his prestige as one of the greatest vibraphonists of all time, Terry Gibbs was especially recognized as a bandleader, winning Best Quartet, Best Big Band, Best Band Leader, and of course, "Best Band in the World" in major polls. Gibbs' compositions have been recorded by icons including Cannonball Adderley and Count Basie, and the top-shelf musicians featured in this tribute will maintain this ongoing legacy.
